I never understood it when my gamer friends would spend so much money on a gaming mouse. Aren’t all mice the same? They move the pointer in whichever direction and allows you to click things. What more does one need from a mouse? Well after SteelSeries sent me the Kinzu V2 Pro Edition to test out I knew immediately what the difference between a regular mouse and a gaming mouse was. I have never had a mouse other than the regular generic $17 desk mouse, so being able to test out this mouse definitely opened my eyes. The Kinzu V2 Pro Edition runs at $44.99 USD and is an improvement to the original Kinzu in that it has tournament grade buttons, which trust me makes a big difference. At only 0.17 lbs in weight, 1.4 inchs in height, and 2.5 inches in width the Kinzu Pro is a fairly lightweight mouse. The Kinzu Pro is equipped with four buttons three of which are the standard left and right buttons on both sides of the clickable scroll wheel. The fourth button is one that I have actually never seen on a generic mouse before. It is the CPI Toggle and it resides inferior to the scroll wheel and is used to adjust between the two sensitivity settings. Another aspect of the Kinzu Pro that I found quite fascinating (haha..) is the double braided cord which I have also never seen before. This cord is actually anti tangle and has a better durability than a regular cord. The first time I put this mouse to the test in a SC2 game I completely lost control of myself. My CPI was apparently set to the highest setting and the sensitivity was insane. The mouse was able to respond to every little movement almost throwing my pointer all over the place. Of course I got the hang of it quite quickly and even changed the CPI to suit my preference. When I asked my gamer friends their opinion they both agreed that the Kinzu V2 Pro Edition is light weight, has a better response (Buttons are faster), and is better for a claw grip as oppose to a palm grip. My personal opinion is that this mouse is not thick enough for me which makes it uncomfortable during game play.
The Kinzu comes in Silver, Red, and Black the silver having a shiny metallic look to it. The aesthetics of it is quite plain and there are no fancy crazy buttons surrounding it on every side which makes this mouse the perfect entry level mouse. It definitely exceeds the regular generic mouse I’ve been used to all my life!

no offense but shouldnt something like this involve a bit more then " yeah the 45$ SS mouse seems better then random 10$ garbage mice" ?
or atleast the basic data like cpi settings, sensor etc?
also "asked my gamer friends with thought ..." isnt something you should use to describe a product. also 45$ isnt really entry level right? not sure about $ prices but stuff like a mx518(or g400 is it now?) or a deathadder etc are all cheaper or am i wrong on that? and what makes it better then the other options?

In first paragraph you had no idea what a gaming mouse does, and in 3rd paragraph you're saying the Kinzu v2 is far better than v1, when v2 was your first gaming mouse to test? Might wanna ninja edit this blog post

I ordered the Kinzu (v1) a while back and it was absolutely horrid. There was positive mouse accel that you couldn't get rid of. Mouse lift-off distance was bigger than even the oldest mice around (I'm talking microsoft/logitech from early 2000's). Not to mention I didn't like the small shape, light weight, bad glide.
Try a real mouse other than regular generic mouse, and you'll see the $40+ isn't justifiable.

I use the original Kinzu, its a great mouse. But I don't really agree with the braided cord being a good thing, my has splintered and ripped at several points along the cord.

this actually might not be a bad idea. i dont know how you got into that reviewing thing but this post hardly qualifies. its basicly nothing but advertising ("yeah its real good , my friends thought so too") and even lacks basic specs.
/edit also what are "tournament grade buttons"?

If this is meant to be a review, I think you might be able to find work soon at IGN or Gamespot if you keep this up.

I noticed this as well... 'I'd never used a gaming mouse' into 'believe me the difference between tournament grade buttons and kinzu 1 buttons is huge'

So is Steelseries sponsoring Dignitas now?
|
I have this Kinzu V2 Pro Edition, and it sucks; I really don't like its mouse feet because it doesn't glide as well it should on my mosuepad. I guess there's an optimal mousepad for it, but I'm not gonna buy another mousepad for it. I went back to my good old Razer Salmosa.

If the difference from original kinzu is this 'tournament grade' buttons, then this isn't worth $45. Even my 'generic desk mouse' logitech mini optical that cost me like $7 perform better than kinzu v1.

I'm wondering are those people from the market that spy on forums like this just to advertise a product are already in here. TL is preetty popular, no?

relax this is my FIRST review and tbh I wasn't expecting it to be great. You learn from your mistakes and improve that way. And i didn't choose the mouse they sent it to me. When I said there was a difference its because i felt a difference in the mouse compared to what I've used before. Youre all critisizing me as if Im supposed to just wake up and know how to write an amazing review. You think everyone start off great? You're wrong so yes i appreciate your comments and will try to learn from them but keep in mind its my first review. Also this is my personal blog where I post what i write. Team Dignitas is not affiliated with Steelseries.

well even for a first you gotta know that this jsut doesnt qualify as a review.
imagine you click on a review from me about a gtx680 and all it says is the size and a few lines of "yeah it def is better then my old mid tier card. my friends think too that games run faster".
thats not a review. thats a advertising with a bit of totally unfunded personal opinion thrown in.
compare yours to this http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=304068 (jsut picked it cause its indepth and was on first page of tech).
dont take all this personal, but this is pretty much the opposite of what it should be :>
btw how did you get into this? do you jsut sign up somewhere and companys send you shit ? i thought some expirience etc would be required for something like that.

Well this previous blog of yours (which apparently isn't a review?) also sounds overly technical for someone who doesnt know much about mice and looks more like an ad than anything else.

If you are actually trying to review things, try to sound less like a propaganda poster.

Well in order to be experienced someone has to start somewhere. And you dont sign up theres a huge process for it and some people contact me so it differs. I'm a beginner and I know its not a great review and I will try to produce better reviews in the future. Thanks for the advice. If it makes you all happy I can just keep posting on my personal blog away from TL until I improve but to be honest, People will always find something to say lol Cant avoid that. It helps me improve.
Again, I will take your advice into consideration and hopefully produce better reviews. Thanks.

I wasn't reviewing in this one, I was asked by SteelSeries to put the product out there and put some info out for people to read so That was not a review I didnt actually get that product for me to be able to review it. I don't strictly do reviews if you haven't noticed.
