Hy Guys! This will be my second blog entry for my adventures in Skyrim. So yesterday was not all that bad, I did some random exploring and got used to playing skyrim again. For today I wanted to raid some dwemer or Nord ruin. So I went and checked wiki skyrim for some help in finding some ruin with good loot and an end boss.
I found a nord ruin named Volskygge. Seems good let’s start!
As you can see the above, I’m at the big “me”. I want to get to the big red x marks the spot. From there I should pick up some ruins on my mini map.
So I got some healing and stamina potions from the stash and ported to karthwasten. If you guys are wondering why I took the path marked in green, It was mainly I wanted to get the village.
Small village at best. Seems the cows are the only lively things around. As I made my way on to the top of the hill I saw an old ruin shelter of some sort. Being sneaky as always I found a few bandits scattered around. Childs play if you can take them on one by one.
Nothing really of interest here, so onward! The top views as you look down over the valley below…
Seems this part of skyrim has a lot of open fields, with next to non wildlife. After nearly running for 2 min I finally entered the village.
Seems this one is a bit livelier. I really did not listen on their conversation, because I saw something a little bit more interesting. A dragon skull on the mini map.
.For those of you who have not played skyrim before, this means that there is a dragon shrine nearby with a dragon guarding it. I only killed 2 dragons up till now so of I went! The view from atop…
Ahh yes…Mr Dragon is base camping…As my mind wondered on what rewards this beast hold, I was struck with a cold chill. I remembered my fight with the ones before and how hard it was on master. I my plan of action was to next on him from the left and try to do as much damage with backstab.
Closer…
Im surpised on how good sneak is. My sneak is currently level 60. But I think what makes my sneak so extra good is the fact that I got the perk that muffles the sound that your armor make when sneaking. I hit f5 and started to sneak closer.
With my first double backstab I was able to take a good chuck out of the fellow. He flew up faster than a Khajitt seeing skooma. I ran to the closest rock I could find and drew my bow ready for him to make his first round. As expected he hovered just in front of me and blasted me with his cold breath. After few rounds of this I finally got him on low enough health for him to land.
I made a save and dash straight for him, I nearly died before even reaching him. Seems I need to get my alchemy up and running so I can make some resist potions to help me against dragons later on. I Drew my bow and continued to poke him with arrows as I got a gap. So after around 30 arrows and 6 health potions I got him on low hp . Let’s try again…
Awwweehhaa!! Kill move. Finally took the beast down, felt good…I’m currently level 23 and I must say playing on master is hard. This was just an ordinary dragon, later you get stronger ones. It seems it’s mostly the magic damage from its breath that really does the biggest damage. Anyway here what I got…
Dragon bones and scales nice! I need to save up to make me some dragon scale armor later on. That’s the only thing I found that I did not like about skyrim. Deadric and glass armor armor is the best armor throughout the elder scroll series which is fine. The only problem is in skyrim glass is surpassed by dragon armor, but deadric is better than the heavy dragon armor counterpart. But whatever I’m just a glass armor fan boy. NEXT! The view from the shrine…
Need to find a way down…Almost there.
Ahh yes we are here. Must say the maps in skyrim are really bigger than but not as big as Morrowind. The thing what I try to pass is not to use quick travel. In morrowind when you got a quick the journal just said “North of Balmora”. Nothing more you had to run and try to find this quest to the north, and that was nice I my opinion. Anyhow back to the game.
Found a few bandits guarding the entrance, nothing too hard. Finally I’m here! Oh looky I leveled! I decided to add my points into my one-handed blade tree. The dual flurry perks should really help with my power backstabs.
The view as I entered.
