My quest to +100 W/L in LoL is still completely fruitless. I'll win 5 games and then lose the next 5. I assume that means I'm being matched against people of similar skill which is nice and all, but it also means I'm not improving at all. I beat my old record of 88+, climbing to 91, then losing all the way to 82 and slowly climbing my way back up to 91 again. Now I'm sitting at 87. Lately I've only been winning games when I play with my REALLY bad friends so I assume we're breaking matchmaking and I'm winning because of that and don't even deserve it.....sigh.

I read a blog recently about someone stuck in Bronze league SC2 and I can feel his frustration. I don't know how the average skill levels comapre but at my best back in SC2 I think I was borderline Silver/Gold (though this was like Season 1, so doubt that still applies). But to be fair I didn't play very much and I know there was lots of room for me to improve. In this case I'm probably about the LoL equivalent of Silver (or maybe Bronze) but I can't improve any more than I have been. I know how the game SHOULD be played, I watch streams, I analyze my own play and I know where my mistakes are made, but I just can't improve upon them for whatever reason.

I see terrible players in my games all the time and I can always pick out their mistakes and what they should have done easily but maybe only 50-60% of my own mistakes. I guess I am just as terrible and it's so disheartening to know that.

I think at this point I really need to play with a few people who are better than me and have them talk down to me/analyze my play midgame like I do with those friends who are bad at the game. I assume the comparison is exactly the same; I just know where they make their mistakes, just as someone much better than me will be able to point out the ones I don't see. I want to improve SO BADLY but just reading/watching isn't enough anymore to make it out of my personal Bronze League.

Are you playing ranked games or just normals? If you are playing ranked what ELO are you about? There is nothing wrong with not being amazing at a game. Im pretty terrible at LoL and yet i still play it regularly and have alot of fun doing so! (which for me is the important point - HAVE FUN)
Its one thing to want to improve but really if you arent having fun and get frustrated/angry with your play you should step back abit and take it a little less seriously. Just remember that you win some and you lose some. Noone will win every game, not even pros. Infact pro players in both games lose all the time and you cant hope to get better if you dont have data for what your doing wrong. (which it seems you can already pick up which is good)

If you relax abit and stop worrying so much about your win/loss ratio it will take some of the stress off yourself and youll probably find that you tend to play alot more fluently and with less mistakes. Being hard on yourself because you make a mistake will often tilt you making you play worse for the rest of the game. So try to save your reviewing of what you did wrong for after the game and take a few minutes to relect on what happened

The best way to train from my experience is to specialise and break everything into parts. If its last hitting your having trouble with then play some games against the AI and just grind out those last hits. If its more positioning and teamwork orientated that is alot harder to break down. But if you have a group of friend to play with maybe you can practice team fights etc? Anyways thats just my thoughts on it. Hope i was atleast a little helpful!

Remember games are ment to be fun! Dont let your mistakes get in the way of you having a good time.

EDIT: Oh and remember LoL is a team game. Sometime you can do everything right and still lose. Dont be a rager and bash on people though as that always make the team moral alot lower and people will just stop trying. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar (i think thats the expression?)
Tasteless: "You wouldnt be a penguin?" Artosis: "Naw i wouldnt be a peguin, penguins cant fly you crazy?"

I have always heard flies, not bees. Maybe it's a regional thing though.

Pretty sure it's flies.

It's not that I'm not having fun, but it's just like SC2 for most people in that part of the fun is knowing you are improving and doing well. Of course losing is a big part of that and I'm alright with it. What frustrates me is that my progress has completely stagnated and I don't seem to get better no matter what I practice. I am only playing normals atm, because I forced myself to hit that +100W/L barrier before I get back into ranked (I'm about 1400 currently). If I can't consistently win in normals or at least win more than I lose, there is no way I can do so in ranked where the competition is even more fierce.

Clarification!

The saying is flies, but it is false. You will catch far more flies by leaving vinegar out than honey.

Not a LoL player here, but it seems to me that if you want to improve faster and player against harder opponents, maybe you should just start playing ranked matches again. The more difficult situations should make any mistakes that you make much more apparent as opponents will be more likely to capitalize on them and this could help force you to improve your game. Plus by playing ranked games you can see your progression/ lack of much easier if I understand correctly, so just do it.

I understand that you wanted to get +100 but if your not making the progress you would like I think this might be the best option, after some ranked matches you could always come back to normal to see if you have improved.

A fundamental flaw of what you're doing is that LoL is not a 1v1 game. You actually may be (and likely are) improving a lot but you have 4 other people dragging you down. Don't base your success on games won, but on something else like how often you make good/bad decisions and how effective you are in whatever else your goals are.

Go gain ranked ELO in LoL, that really not matters not 100 more normal wins.

Have, will, but embarassed to. I feel like I need 1 on 1 coaching though; Numbers your style is to watch the first 10 min of a vid and pick shit apart which is useful but I'm not sure it'll help. I'll send you one if I can find a good example of a game I lost but still think I performed well in.

While those suggestions to make sense, theoretically there should not be a huge difference in the level of players I end up against in normals vs ranked (you have a hidden normal elo; mine should be pretty static right now since I have like 1500gp). I know normals don't matter (neither does ranked, really) but it's just a goal I feel I need to reach, and supposedly I should be able to carry harder when there are statistically fewer tryhards in normal games, even if I get those people not trying on my team, which brings me to this:

A fundamental flaw of what you're doing is that LoL is not a 1v1 game. You actually may be (and likely are) improving a lot but you have 4 other people dragging you down. Don't base your success on games won, but on something else like how often you make good/bad decisions and how effective you are in whatever else your goals are.

This argument seems fundamentally flawed to me. Obviously LoL is not a 1v1 game, however if I was improving I would see a change in my rating or W/L one way or another over the vast number of games I've played. Blaming failures on my teammates is no way to win or cope with loss; and it has been proven many times that those pro players who belong at high elo will get back up there despite a few games with feeders/leavers/trolls/etc.

Really appreciate all the advice/well-wishes so far, guys. I'm going to keep at it I guess...nowhere to go but up (I lost another...now at +86 >.<). One thing I'm particularly guilty of is not playing the same role constantly or the same champ constantly and I've heard mastering a champion is a good way to rank up. Last season I did it with Trundle, carrying myself from 1k elo to 1400. Maybe I should try again....

Here's a replay of an absolutely abysmal game. Turns out enemy team wasn't even full 30s.
Jarvan Poppy on our team, dual lane bot, went like 0/8 and 2/9 or some shit.

I'm sure I didn't play perfectly but surely there must be a way to carry a team like that when the enemy team is equally bad?
I'm sure I sucked and could've done better but I need specifics.
Would more wards have done it when team wasn't paying attention to full sight anyway?
Should I have just laned with bot?
ARGH.

EDIT: Oh man, this game made me feel so much better.

http://www.mediafire.com/?yqlmcg7woln3kk0

I still suck though.
