but what I don't understand, after watching the YouTube clip- why was the camera on that drone wall the entire 2:50. I mean even when the spectator clicked on another part of the minimap it's still at the drone wall. dafuq? The places where the camera looked away were clearly edited out

LOL there are so many hardcore BW fans in this thread trolling sc2 fan newb who know nothing about BW.... i feel sorry for those sc2 guys .
anyway it was incredible seeing JD made that mistake and still held off every single attack the protoss made. The protoss face in the end is just way too funny. Im glad i watched this live with friends via teamspeak :D

This makes no sense whatsoever. Is it some weird joke? whats there not to get. it makes perfect sense. No, it makes no sense at all. I see both you and the other guy joined TL only after SC2 was released so you may not be aware of some of the differences in BW. When a DT kills a unit in one hit (drone or probe), there is no warning or notification whatsoever. So putting three drones on a ramp to be safe from DTs wouldn't do anything but allow a DT to get three extra drone kills without JD realizing it (it's not like he kept looking back at the ramp.. lol) before they get into the main. Seriously? When a DT is in one of your mineral lines one-shotting workers, you get no warning? I think it pings the minimap but makes no noise. Wrong. No warning at all in BW. You get a warning if it attacks say, a Hydra, but not a drone.
Warning will say(if sound is on) : "Your units are under attack!" etc. Zerg has a slightly different announcement I believe, but you get the jist of it. Also, ROFL. Watched the "wtf" face 10 times :D

During his first-person view, which was shown twice during the match, I never saw him look at his ramp once, which suggests to me that it was accidental. I can't imagine why he would do that on purpose.

Nothing could have prepared me for the moment when Jaedong moved his drones and started streaming his entire army through. The crowd went absolutely ballistic.

Yeah, was that necessary? I think not..

So I just watched the vod, I don't really get why he had the drone wall, it's not like he did it early game or w.e, and there was detection and mass sunkens to the nats entrance, so it's not DT's... Unless there's something about the map I overlooked

i am absolutely sure it was a rallying mistake. maybe some units were moving in the way and the drones were blocked and stopped there.
|
that was so awesome haha, you will NEVER see that ever again. i can see why he is embarassed cause hes JD but the fact that we still won that game shows you how good he is ~_~

It was clearly a mistake.
The reason for it was that he made a muta/scourge switch to try and reduce the corsair numbers, and rallied them to his ramp to be safe. Then when he switched back to hydraurk/ling/defiler, he forgot about that rally and all he ended up blocking his own units. In the interview, he says that the reason he saw it was that he was approaching max supply but couldn't find any of his units, so he looked around and saw it xd

This is correct, I rewatched the game and the block happened immediately after the switch like you said.

No no, I mean, why make the wall in the first place. It's obvious that keeping it was a mistake, but he never really had enemy forces sneaking through that ramp... Edit: Oh derp, read the second next comment. Thanks :D

I watched this match with my brother and bet 1x fried chicken for Jaedong. At first, I thought JD was up to something but when the number of blocked creatures multiplied I began to scream bad words LOL

It looks worse because those units slowly build into a significant army, but since those attacks come reasonably quickly, he's really only missing a few units per wave.. And with a lot of AOE dmg going around, there's a decent chance that a reasonable number of those units simply die without much effect if they're mixed into the army... IMO anyway.
