Hey hey -
So, I have 2 weeks until I'm back into the world of the 9-5 full time job... time to finally make that last push... any tips or suggestions, or practice partners would be awesome, hit me up.
I've been playing zerg and floating around in diamond or the equiv since really, the beta... so lets final make that push.
To start though these are my most basic ideas in how to use my time:
Step 1 - Mental
I idra gg and qq like a b!tch so lets work on that... I have literally left at least 300 hundred ladder games I likely would have won or was at least ahead in simply because my frustration level would get so high I'd rather move on than fight for the win. Also.... ya once my frustration level is that high... Mr Nice guy just isn't at home anymore.
Idea - Swear Jar
Every line of in-game or post game BM (even if they start it) costs me $1 to the swear jar Also Every time I leave a game early without making one last stab at the win I put $2 into the swear jar.
At the end of the 2 weeks all swear jar proceeds (hah proceeds) go to a local charity, any suggestions? Maybe Big Brothers and Sisters
Clearly the swear jar solves nothing on it's own, but it's a great way to keep my mind focused on the goal, and a reasonable cost when I mess up.
Step 2
Make better use of my time
Idea: No more team games all 1v1 ladder, or better yet customs - or reading up on set strats / studying replays or pros.
Look for players to practice with - I know a number of masters players make sure to ask them as is reasonable for practice and help (for some reason I never do this.. ugh.)
Idea: 3 game ladder losing streak equals take a break some days I'll get free time for sc2 and literally power out 15 ladder games going 1-14... huzzah for playing but really? can't afford those ladder loses when I'm making the push. 3 losing streak and I move on to studying the game or just go for a run.
Idea: Meaningfully study every game replay - find at least one thing I could have done better in that game, because god knows there is more than 1
Idea - record, start up my sc2 diary with builds, common mistakes I makes, tips, idea, etc etc
Step 3 Get smarter about the game ... Find my mistakes and hammer them out of my play - I know I let my macro slip and frequent supply blocks- these are things I don't need any game knowledge about to fix, focus on 'em every game.
-pick one build per match up for ladder play and focus on them? a little on the fence but I think this makes the most sense... however I think that any and all builds I choose should have at least a strong pressure or timing element to them... take wins from those with holes in there game… even if I am playing zerg... ugh... there I said it haha.
If for some reason you've actually read all this - awesome ... really just a place for me to put my thoughts together... also really haven't even proof read this. Still hit me up at galleonsc2 on Skype or pm here or galleonsc2 on twitter if you have ideas suggestion or wanna play me.
Next up – results tracking, and info about build and timing etc as I come across them.

Good luck man, my suggestion is try finding someone who has a knowledge of zerg and let him observe your replays or spectate customs. Hopefully, they can give suggestions and tell you what your doing wrong and such. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks man, can't argue with advice like that! - I've never really put the effort into self anaylsis that I should have... just played for fun.
well I'm 2-0 for the afternoon and rolled both people I played, but still a long way to go my mmr seems like so low
The most efficent way is prob just to get someone like zoohair to teach me a few strong coinflip cheese's and get them down really but that seems like cheating... though if I'm running out of time and not making progress hells ya. haha

Don't worry man, just keep playing how you are, and you'll get masters in no time. It's much more satisfying getting there by playing solid games than by cheesing your way in. Or just buy an NA account, thats what I did :D

Practicing now with Vlare - mid masters p - getting rolled but thats the way of it edit - GOOD masters who calls himself a copper scrubby reedit

Either way, I bet you'll be getting the masters symbol soon, you seem to have the right mindset and whatnot

hah if the true goal was just masters that's actually a smart way to go about it, and just focus on a few good agressive builds... but it's really about teaching my self to learn in the game ...

I've started laddering a bit again and had some fun playing actually. Won a few games where I was really far behind. Try and get around the idea of counter attacking as soon as the enemy leaves. Playing a fast and furious style of zerg is so much fun once you master it.
I was Master a single season so I encourage you to try and play a few games every day in the best mood possible. It helps a ton to get the mechanics going.

The best way to improve is honestly just to ladder, and to ladder a lot. At least at your level. Customs are ok, but they're better if you're trying to work on something very specific, like 2 rax defense or something similar.

I think you can improve in the ladder but you really have to very smart and anaylitical to truely learn much just playing ladder...
I've play a lot of ladder games, and I've been at about the same skill level for a LONG time... it's really hard to me to break this hump...
well it's been a good day of games, I'll update tomorrow
