No this has nothing to do with money, but the book INHERITANCE by Christopher Paolini. If you dont know this book, it is the final book in the Eragon series. If you havent read them, dont dismiss them because of the worst movie ever made, they are much MUCH better than the movie. If you havent read the books either, I suggest you stop reading this blog entry here.
SPOILER WARNING
Now I am writing this blog to address my disappointment in the ending of INHERITANCE, it felt that he was half arsed and just kept on dragging it on and on for the sake of it going on. He also left a number of loose ends at the ending that could have been tied up then and there. I suppose its possible he left it open for a possible 5th book in the cycle, but as such, if that really is the final book in the series, I would be disappointed. Maybe a Epilogue in the deluxe edition of the book would be good. For example he wrote about all these missions, none went into detail or had any depth too them, it was like he had to hand it in to his teacher and had 2 hours to finish the book so he wrote something of the top of his brain. He went on missions, talked to saphira, THE END. It bothers me that it that dramatic, I think he could have done better by just having him kill Galbatorix and writing 'and it was done'. Sure it wouldn't have impressed many people, but it would have probably been better than what he wrote in this section. Overall it was good, especially the 'Vault of souls' section, I remember a huge grin on my face when I read that but, the ending just took all the goodness out of it.
One thing that really made me annoyed was the fact that Angela the herbalist predicted a 'Epic Romance'. Now most of you who are still reading have probably read the books or some of them, and let me say the way Arya and Eragon's possible romance was appalling. They expressed there love, you could EASILY tell there was chemistry between them, yet Christopher just didn't want to write the words 'They Kissed' or something to some effect. There was a perfect opportunity when they told each other their true names, and even when Eragon got on the ship to leave Alagaesia yet it just didnt happen! When I finished the book it was a bittersweet moment yet it felt more bitter because of that and the number of loose ends. What happens to the dragons when he leaves? Will Murtagh ever return to Alagaesia? What of the Ra'Zac eggs? Lots of people on Shurtugal.com and other inheritance sites have the same questions, and Christopher has said that if he does write another book it maybe a prequel or a standalone sequel and if its really good I may be happy with the series, the first 3 books where amazing.
I suppose all these questions could be answered in another book, and I would hate it for him to leave it quite short with only 4 books. I think he could easily write another book with the left over material from the INHERITANCE series, and in my own opinion, I'm not ready to give up these characters either.
Christopher if you are reading this, PLEASE PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK.
'It is done.'

Damn, that sucks. I think it was about 5 to 8 years ago when I first read Eragon and I actually liked a lot, enough so that I read the second and third novels just to see what happens even though I had grown out of the genre. Now the fact that he ties up no loose ends sort of demotivates me from reading the book. It was a good story, however if it was as disappointing as you say it is, it may be a story that I won't take the time to finish.
Sadly, I feel that this is a product of his underdeveloped writing skills. If I remember correctly he started to write Eragon when he was in high school and the final product reflected that somewhat. He later stated that if it weren't for his editor's naggings it might have taken him years longer to finish the third novel. The fact that he leaves so many loose ends might speak to his lack of experience and/or talent as a writer. Regardless I am a little disappointed as I was pretty excited to see how the tale ended.

You should read it, the moments that are good, are absolutely glorious, its just some of the lose ends are not tied up by the end of the book that really annoyed me, its really a bittersweet moment when you finish it.

Maybe I'll give it a try later after this semester ends and I've got some free time. It's just that I get the sense that the novel is unfinished and had to be rushed to meet deadlines judging by the space in between the novels and the way that the third book was written. Oh well, I'll probably end up reading it sooner or later for old time's sake.

I agree with you, the end was kinda rushed and what was that all about "I just wanted to show him that he's wrong" LOLWTFBBQ?? (about galbatorix part). also, epic romance was not really epic as you said, no dragon flight for Jeod, and why can't they wait few years before parting off, and why the hell didn't he use the word of the words to clear the Rider's island? What else, the 2 misterious travelers were whom?? and last question, WHO THE FUCK is Angela.
So in general, he made even more questions at the end of book 4 more than book 3... Anyhow, I love that book 4 still. 3/4 beginning was epic. He just left too many question unanswered.

Yea it was kinda dissapointing... some good parts though

I was happy with the end, it leaves a lot of things to my imagination - and I like that a lot. Now you can relax in a comfy chair and think about all the things that could happen, sometimes thats the best part.

Yeah man, I was wondering that myself. He could have easily used the 'Word' to clear Vronguard (I think thats how its spelt) to clear it out for the hatchlings, then he woulnt have to move the eggs, and the Elduanauri, he could smooch up Arya and have little elf babies etc. Yeah Angela is still a mystery, I dont think he wants to give us details. I guess they couldnt wait for leaving because he had to hatch the dragons like immediately because they would have been in their eggs for so long.
I think the ending could have even been much better by like a '10 years later' sort of thing, the dragons all flying around, arya and eragon hooking up etc. You know like harry potter -.-

haven't read it yet but think I'd definitely prefer this ending to a 10 years later one. the harry potter ending was just so rushed and cheesy. wasn't very conclusive either, just a simple "and they all lived happily ever after"
