so i've been thinking for a long time about getting an espresso machine, mainly for making lattes. so not only do i need good espresso but a good milk frother, which is kind of why i have decided to turn to one of these machines. also, i like to drink latte often enough to where it would make sense to get a set up if its cheap. not really interested in paying $5 for charbucks, and there really aren't any other good coffee places around. so i've been thinking about getting a de'longhi ec 155, a tamper, and a milk frothing pitcher.
amazon's got 20% off the de'longhi EC 155 plus a $20 rebate making it $44 AR.

total would be:
$44 for EC 155 $7 tamper $9 frothing pitcher $10 for torani vanilla syrup $20 for some lavezza grinded espresso beans
thoughts on the setup?

I have a DeLonghi. Its plastic. And it makes the best espresso I have ever had from a home machine ever in Canada.
I also use lavezza and i like the espresso better than the crap you get at starbucks. Delonghi is a good company and I would say go for it.

Im not an expert, but i think DeLonghi might be an OK beginners kit. More exclusive brand and machines are much much more expensive (and i dont know how much better they are). I used to have a DeLonghi machine, which i put somewhere in the basement cuz it was too much hassle and the coffee wasnt good enough. A mocca kettle makes good coffee and it next to no work. U cant froth tho, but i think that the frother on cheap machines are often pretty useless anyway. Its hard to get that perfect foamy texture. If you're not gonna grind your own beans and buy from one of the "big companies" i suggest u try Gevalias Maestro Lorenzo. Its the best espresso coffee i've ever had (been drinking it every day the last 3 years) that came grinded in a box, and for some reason its a bit cheaper than most other Gevalia/Lavezza/etc coffees.
Couldnt link properly, cuz of safety-shit at work. 3-cup version is fine for one person, if you often make coffee for 2 or more i suggest 6-cup. (I have 3 and 9 myself) http://www.amazon.com/Bialetti-Express-Espresso-Maker-06799/dp/B000HVC9JW/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1319020218&sr=1-1-spell
