Obviously no longer at the level I used to but I play it as a log in twice a day kind of deal. I'm backed by friends (and an alliance) who do take things more seriously, so in that sense, I can slack off. It's no more or less addicting than WoW tbh. If you have a team objective (aka: win the server), the game can be rather in depth. There's only a handful of TL users that I know of who have played Travian at that "hardcore" level.

The skill of the game comes from one factor: spending the most time playing. The game happens constantly in real time, so if you want to be good, you have to check Travian every hour or so to make sure no one is murdering your villages. You'll get to a point where it isn't even fun, but you'll keep playing because you've dedicated too much time to quit. Heed my warning: stay far away from this terrible game. Your eternal soul depends on it. Travian is ridiculously time dependent of a game. However, the one main issue is that when TL play Travian back in 2007 was that everyone individual had their own account. So at best, you could only cover 16-18 hours a day (that's to say that you had a fairly normal sleeping schedule and you had an occupation/study that allowed you to be online for the majority of the day). Nowadays, players stack on accounts. So one good account tends to be 3-4 players, from various time zones, covering the account. When you only have to spend 2-6 hours a day at the game, without worrying of suffering a major setback, the game becomes more enjoyable.

Hm? 2007 was a year where dual-accounts were already fairly common. I played "hardcore" from 2005-2006 and at the end of the round, most good players had more than one person playing an account. @OP: Don't play it. Ever since they introduced "gold", it's not worth it anymore.
