I love eSports because of the players I've watched, the commentators I've listened to, and the community I've talked with.
No other sport has had me staying up at 3AM to watch an analysis show about it, totally fucking up my sleeping pattern. Yes, I'm looking at you, Day9. When you watch Day9, you just know he gets it. He loves eSports, he loves Starcraft, and we all love him for it. No other sport has made me pull all-nighters (MLG).
No other sport has made me have a mancrush on the commentators. Tasteless and Artosis are both funny and handsome, and it's why you'll love them. Check them out at Gomtv.net where they cast Code S. I buy the season passes for every season, because I love Starcraft 2, I love eSports. DJWheat will never back down when it comes to eSports, if he reads a derogatory article, DJWheat will be the first one to abolish it, and reply (not angrily like you could do, reading some of them) in a fine manner, not disgracing the community at all. It's part of why we love DJWheat, the other part is because he is a sick nerd balla.
The players are incredible. I've never felt such love, and excitement, and shared the anxiety of that final game of a BO7, hoping the player you want to win doesn't screw up. It's tense for both of you, and I feel like nothing is as engaging as this. I have a mancrush on MKP and MC, I have to admit. Whenever they are playing, I'll drop whatever I am doing to

It's incredibly important for eSports to survive, and no other sport has a community like SC2. Heck, the "physical" sport don't have a collected community like eSports. We all come to Teamliquid, to Wellplayed, to GosuGamers, to discuss our favourite thing: eSports. The community is pushing eSports forward, one daily, one cast, one forum post at a time. People who think, "Oh, I'm not helping eSports because I don't have a huge fanbase" are wrong. Watching streams, watching tournaments, buying vod passes, posting on forums are all helping eSports. Hashtagging and just talking about Starcraft 2 on Twitter/Facebook, and telling your friends is helping eSports. No other community does stuff like this.
Tonight I am going to go without sleep to watch GSL All-Stars and the GSL Code S finals. Why? BECAUSE I LOVE ESPORTS.
