So recently BW has been hit with some pretty bad news. The Why we love BW Thread and the comments by Um Jae Gyung have kinda inspired me to collect a list of the most memorable games that I've seen live. These probably aren't the 5 best games ever or even in the past 2ish years that I've followed BW. You'll notice that all of them are a year old. I stopped watching hard-core when SC2 beta came out (I didn't switch to SC2 watching till Summer-ish tho) because of school and other priorities. I catch games every now and then but not live any more -_- I simply cannot stay up that late. There's a couple games I know I'm missing that were Really Epic after that period but I'm unable to recall them. T__T Especially w/ Fantasty and or Hydra. I stayed up for Hydra's games. That kid is sick good. Anyways, here are the games. Just realized Flash is in 4 of these games. Well, Flash did dominate that time period. hehe.
This game pretty much made Flash as invincible for me. The lead up to this game was tremendous. If I'm not mistaken right before this game, Flash went on a ridiculous TvT tear and began his run for best TvT streak (normal games) before being stopped by the boss Really. Jaedong was on a 10-0 streak before this series and his games weren't even that close. In this game, Flash just flat out denies Jaedong a third. My young BW noob mind was shocked at how dominant Flash seemed.
Remember all that I just said about Flash being invincible? Well my favorite player of all time came back from down 0-2 and took his OSL, preventing him from repeating and grabbing a Golden Mouse. Bitch. He even overcame Flash's lame ass shit "oh my moniter flashed and I lost my valks... oops..." (of course EffOrt did the same thing during the epic 7 hour tie-breaker with pee-zerg Shine and that match-fixing bitch whose name will not be mentioned.
Another JvF game but the time I was watching BW live was pretty much dominated by JvF. God the LR thread graphics for this Finals was SOOO epic. Flash was attempting to grab both titles. I remember thinking of Bisu/Stork fans as fans who judged soley on appearance. TBLS was pretty much just LS back then. This definitely was not a series that most people like, and for good reason. For starters MSL decided to play these games in a "virtual stadium" instead of in front of a regular crowd for some reason. The CG and effects were shit-terrible. Then the shit-storm. Game 3 on Odd-Eye, series is tied at 1-1. As I remember, Flash requested a heater because the virtual booth was cold. His computer ended up over-heating and the power supply shut off. The win was awarded to Jaedong, Flash's dad was pissed, and Flash went on a tilt. The next 2 games, Flash played terribly and lost. I stayed up till 3 AM to watch these. Games started at 4. Soon after this, Flash would become invincible.
Movie is on my favorite team and shares my last name. He got to the finals on the strength of his PvZ. Honestly, the only good player Movie had to beat to reach the finals was ZerO. Maybe Light, but he was still Invisible Terran back then. Flash took out Kwanro, Jaedong, and Calm; however, he lost to Stork in the group stages, so his TvP was suspected to be his weakest matchup. Movie had pretty much no shot at winning this series and even the pre-game interviews seemed pretty one-sided. I think even Kim-Carrier predicted Movie would win, sealing his fate. The one game that Movie took this series was pretty okay. Flash didn't see the carrier transition fast enough and didn't have enough Gols. wuteva. This game was awesome just because Flash was able to showcase his incredible Macro behind a wall of supply depots. The wall of Flash.
For me it has to be the MSL match between Bisu and Savior. Savior was a huge favorite to win it and Bisu shows up after a team vacation with a build we never seen before and completely dominates Savior. There was also a hilarious video of it made by one forum veteran that's no longer active. Second has to be the next MSL finals between Bisu and Stork going to the final game with arbiter battles.

Yea this was amazing. At the time, Best was known as a macro beast and a rising protoss star (I think he was actually doing better than Bisu at the time). July kind of randomly reappeared in the OSL and made a really good run through it to the finals. He hadn't shown a great macro game in a long time, so everyone thought he would take maybe a game with cheese and then get manhandled by Best. What ensued was one of the biggest stomps in history. July started off with mind games and 4 pooled him. After that, Best was shaken, but he was ok because he was on Troy, a protoss map. Best tried to tech up behind a zealot but July sees the weakness and brings all of his drone stacked right before his overlord dies onto Best's minerals. Best gets owned because his zealot glitches out and dies. In the final game many people still think Best will win, but they have no idea of his mental state, which is in shambles. July then proceeds to macro up and stomp Best at his own game beautifully, completing the stunning 3-0.
Other candidates might be Stork vs GGplay (boring near the end), Bisu vs Savior.
Most memorable as in what? I know the most excited I personally ever got watching BW was during the So1 OSL Boxer vs Anytime Final game 4 on Neo Forte, and game 5 of the 2005 Ever OSL final July vs Goodfriend.
Probably the best PvT I've seen live. I'm not a huge fan of either player, but this was a really, really good game. It's a shame that Iris dropped in the semis to Kwanro after, because he deserved that MSL title after this game.
For some reason it's the Mondragon vs Reach game from some Blizzard event in 2005 (?) for me. Can't remember the date, but the game itself was awesome.
That JD vs Flash EVER Quarterfinals made me cry. It was a terrible, terrible day for Zerg fans.
That being said, ShinHan Bank 2006 S3 OSL Finals, sAviOr vs NaDa. Just...sAviOr played NaDa like a piano. I don't know what to say.
That one game of sAviOr vs Nal_rA, GOMTV MSL Quarters Group B Game 2 on Longinus II, apparently. Just...fending off forward two gate without wasting a single unit or batting an eyelash. THE display on how to beat a 2 gate.
And I think...3rd game, semifinals(?) of the Bacchus OSL, JD vs Fantasy on Holy World. I saw that live...and when the lings rushed in I was literally SCREAMING. Jesus, the JD back then had stupidly ridiculous starsense/dominance. Just...it was unbelievable.
julyzerg 3-0 best boxer vs anytime so1 finals game 4 entire daum OSL between GGplay and iris julyzerg vs goodfriend game 5 savior vs nada OSL finals savior vs iris game 5 OSL semi-finals bisu vs iris game 5 avalon msl bisu vs yellow on hbr and also tons of other savior games, including this:
just a few that i really can go "holyshitomfgwtfbbqzomg"
Nada vs Jangbi, MSL quarterfinals sometime in 08. Every rational starcraft follower predicted an easy 3-0 for Jangbi, a top PvTer at the time versus a fledging Nada, but Nada fans believed and the LR thread went wild after Nada took the first game in a display of mechanical skill and prowess that rivaled that of Flash. It wasn't even close. Jangbi proceeded to take the next two games with some well executed cheese builds, then Nada came back to take the fourth game with two proxy factories of his own. Eventually Jangbi won the last game with the help of speed shuttles and carriers, and seeing Nada put his head in his hands after he gg'ed was the most emotional I've ever gotten watching Starcraft. Fuck this should have been a finals.
