i saw this blog and was inspired to make an Archon of my own. took about 10 mins on facebook graffiti, didn't come out quite the way i wanted, but here it is

Though i'm a zerg, i cant help but think archons are badass id say they're definitely one of the coolest units in the game, if not the coolest.
since i'm making a blog anyways, i might as well write a little more; its good practice and it'll give the post a little beef.
Today, i played my brother 4 or 5 times, and am still unable to best him. i think the area i'm mostly lacking in is my multitasking, mouse control and economy management. mine is....passable...i guess...while his is crisp. just another one of those differences between gold and diamond.
Usually his build seems to be FFE into either a 7 gate or a 5gate, or double stargate. I'm having trouble finding the last possible moment i can stop making drones and still hold his pushes. i'm thinking of using more queens and spinecrawlers, to free up more larva for drones, depending on what my overlord sac shows. I was also thinking about delaying my spire until im on 3 bases that i can adequately defend. (the third having already paid for itself. )
We'll see how it goes.
Today i have also acquired every single song Dio has ever produced, and put together my current starcraft playlist. ( a little iron maiden and jimmy Hendrix mixed in) So far its serving pretty well, but my only complaint is that RJD's lyrics are so indecipherable and interesting that it pulls my attention away from my build order if i'm not careful; so i may switch back to techno and dance music in the beginning of Sept when we get more bandwidth.(having exhausted my allotted 60gigs...)
anyways....its 3am....time for my post-midnight snack, so ill catch you fellows later.

The picture didn't show up in the thread but maybe its a problem on my end. I went to the URL and saw it anyway though, I think it's pretty good. Certainly much better than the one I managed to make in that thread!
Droning is (for me anyway) the hardest thing to do as zerg. It's largely trial and error in my experience so just keep going at it. Also I can totally imagine Dio lyrics being distracting. =)

I would suggest using built-in upload image of TL, because the picture does not embed for me. Archons are definitely my favourite units

Instead of drawing an archon, I tried hard to edit the archon using MSPaint

not every time. and he is a cheesy asshole, but only because he always blocks my expo with a pylon right before i drop it. id rather be bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat than have my expo blocked by a pylon.
if you want to ruin someones day, block their expo.

If he's so focused on blocking your expansion just 7 pool and all-in with your drones. There are several good early game rushes in ZvP you can memorize to punish his inflexible cheeses. And when he learns to stop being a dick maybe you can get him to train you on mechanics. Just a thought.

he sends his probe to scout at 9, so if he sees a 6 pool (anything from 6 pool to 10pool) he can just drop an extra cannon and it will be done in time before the lings arrive, run-bys aren't possible because if he sees early pool he will block off. the only rush strategy i've found to be effective at all is a 7 roach rush, and that usually only works if i can deny his scout somehow.
i have another theory that i could throw down an expo at 14, follow it up with a pool and roach warren, oversaturate the natural and deny scouting to the main with my queen leading him to think that i'm playing a late game oriented macro style, while i'm actually just pumping roaches and lings hard and rallying them into the main until i have enough to sack his natural(at least)
this still needs to be tested, but i'm estimating that this push would come at about 7 minutes, and if i deny scouting effectively should look exactly like i was just pumping drones all game.

That's making too many assumptions...suppose they're a masochist? in that case what little life they had left would be joy- filled.

One thing you can try (though it likely wont be successful if hes actually on the ball) is doing a 6 pool and have a drone chilling in the natural. He might stop to try to block the expo instead of going right for the scout.
Another thing I've tried a few times is to do a bit of a later pool (like on 10), make 6 lings but no queen when it finishes, and try to block him from getting a tight wall with a manner hatchery.

ahaha! i used to try this one cheese where youd 6 pool, run a drone to the ramp, drop a manner hatch and cancel it, and instantly put an evo chamber on the square of creep the hatch creates. you rally lings and attack the wall (and your evo chamber) and lose as few lings as possible. eventually the evo chamber dies because its off creep and you run your lings through the gap and attack with the broodlings and lings.
soooo fun, but tough to pull off.
(i will try what you say. ill let you know how it goes in another blog or something.)

Heh, that's actually pretty suave. Its hard to get down the evo chamber if there's an enemy worker nearby though.
Similar to that, when the opportunity presents itself in a ZvZ, you can perform the same trick to block his natural. ^^
