Also, by that pic, it looks like there is some kind of back rotor... Overlords probably still have no means of propulsion through any medium.

it powers a microwave so that the banshee pilot can enjoy hot pockets, his favorite food.
Banshee pilots are female. Your argument is undone.

What if they are transgender? o-O

turrets should cost supply

I'm confused.
#1 There's far more unbelievable things in SC
#2 Doesn't it have a tail rotor? edit: Oh I get your point now, OP. But wouldn't such a thing be used for speedy maneuvering?

That's the issue, Mikilatov. It shouldn't have a tail rotor because normally, helicopters have one to counter-act the spinning motion of the blades. With 2 sets of blades spinning opposite directions, this wouldn't happen, so you don't need one.
|
The two rotors on the wings are to provide lift, the one on the tail is to rotate the banshee very quickly (not to couteract the rotation of the other two rotors). The blades of the tail rotor would simply have to change in pitch and it would create a lot of lateral torque. When the banshee isn't turning, the blades just have to have a neutral angle. Have you seen banshees stutter-step marines? How do you think that they could muster that much rotational acceleration without that tail rotor?

I don't believe that it needs a tail rotor; however, one could be desirable in order to maintain certain flight characteristics. As has already brought up previously in the thread, rotation speed as well as survivability could both be factors.
It's also possible that it is necessary to deal with certain gravational restrictions; given an environment with questionable gravity/gravational stability, a tail rotor could help immensely.
upon further thought, you can also ensure stability under all wind directions (not necessarily conditions, as your fans would still have max speed characteristics).

I'm also actually not convinced that they work with the concept of aerodynamic lift; it's possible that they work in environments with no air, in which case you have no idea what sorts of stability issues/risks they present.

Maybe the tail rotor is there to provide additional turning ability or to help as a transmitter for cloak field?
If the second is true then I fuckin' hate those things ]:|

Okay you guys are starting to discuss this way too seriously. This is a game that has invisibility and magic labeled otherwise. I once loved the starcraft lore but SC2 helped me see past that.

Like, the damage should decrease if you've been pounding a rock for 5 minutes straight.... Hitting those rocks like that should INCREASE the damage zerglings do. It's like, sharpening their claws on that rock, bro. Like how cats use scratching posts. Think about it.
Woooow.... I want Void Ray Zerglings!

I think zerglings should starve to death unless you feed them marines or gas or lyotes
EDIT: oh man thats a great idea, after a while they would all start to lose health and you'd have to pick one unlucky ling for them to cannibalize!

No no no, you guys are all wrong (although there were some good guesses). It's not a tail rotor its a spare rotor. In case one of the main rotors springs a leak and they get a flat they can land the banshee, jack it up with the structure holding the spare and then replace it and be on their merry way. Ingenious really, but that's what the Terrans are known for right? Being scrappy and resourceful?

2 zerglings are born from a single egg. Does this mean every zergling has/had a twin?

Correct, identicals.

The tail rotor lets them fly in space

I wonder if the other one feels when his twin dies or turns into a baneling.

I think zerglings should get an attack speed buff when fighting next to their twin
