That ain't even hard to answer, bro. Obviously there's bacteria inside them that produces gas, then they use that gas as a fuel for a biological jet engine. Kinda like a squid does with water. Since overlords are herbivores, they just eat trees they happen to pass over. Decaying plant matter = gas. Why do you think they're always over trees in maps like tal'darim or shattered temple?
