So, as some of you know, the TW + KR server merge has occurred, and S3 has started on TW, and so I decided to hop onto my TW account and do my placement matches and see how the koreans do compared to NA/TW.
I went 4-1 on my placements, (got 7 pooled once ><) and, the koreans are a helluvalot better than the NA players, that's for sure. I placed into platinum, and laddered a bit (around 7 more games) and I find the koreans in platinum to be much more refined and have crisper execution compared to NA platinum/diamond. They definitely put up a fight, ZvP, which I have like a 70% win loss ratio on in NA is back to 50% on KR.
However, the skill gap isn't nearly as much as people say, and it's often exaggerated beyond belief. plat koreans aren't equal to masters on NA, and nor are diamonds from what I can tell.
(I am not saying the master league koreans aren't vastly superior than NA master league, but rather I'm speaking solely of the lower leagues, plat/diamond)
I do however find the players to be smarter, faster, and more diverse than their counterparts.
(sometimes diversity is bad, I played someone going all marines, except he didn't have the micro of MKP.)
No.
Also, I enjoy the korean server much more than the NA server in terms of fun, and I have to put more effort in.
I'm high diamond on NA for reference

I agree that KR people aren't as good as everyone says. I do believe that at the top level the koreans are better, though. : )
It must be awesome having a KR acc. Congrats! I'm jealous : D

Yeah, I had to edit that in so that people didn't mistake me for saying it's near equal skill level everywhere on the server.

I heard once on here [I laughed ofc] that diamond in Korea is many times more difficult than GM in NA. I think I might pick up a korean edition though, eventually, just for added difficulty.

hahaha yea, been playing some koreans now that the servers have merged. It isn't too bad so far, have been cheesed a lot though. A lot more pressure and aggressiveness from the Koreans definitely.

hey, cool write up, thanks reminds me of that i'd love to have a KR account at some point.

Thats just about what I expected. People who say AM Grandmasters is KR platinum were ridiculous. I havent played on my KR account yet (going to in an hour) but I have no doubt i'll do well on it.
Guess we'll see

Korean Diamond is without a doubt equivalent to NA Masters, I have played many games on KR on a friends account who is in diamond.

I got a TW account as well but I won't be playing until next week. Thanks for providing some info on the skill gap, I was wondering about that. Looking forward to no BM since the language barrier between me and them.

Thanks for your statistics based of ~10 games...

I apologize I didn't want to farm 50+ games in a single night, and instead I wanted to let everyone know about what I thought so far. hardly 'statistics', hence why it's a blog. It's my opinion, my view, and what I've experienced, if that isn't good enough for you, then go to another blog.

heh I cannon rushed some guy (granted, I beat him the game before in a macro game, his play was sloppy at best so just wanted to end it quick) and he spewed out like 20 lines of korean text, which I couldnt understand.. Obvious assumption though, he was raging.
I also had another guy give a "G" instead of gg lol
