Lol sc2 isnot a team sport. Thats like saying Swimming, wrestling, and track are team sports.

That being said, i disagree completly, in ROOT he was very friendly and a teammate

Only people who have never swam, wrestled, or ran competitively would ever say that.

Sure, they aren't technically team sports. But try training to stay competitive without a team and see how far you get. Being part of a team is essential, because it's (almost) impossible to motivate and challenge yourself enough alone.

I imagine SC2 is similar.

Why can't he still stream?

He was streaming when he was on Root.

The only reason it's an issue is because Destiny is a high profile case.

What do u mean high profile? How so... his stream is his stream, he has never made any scene or bm during a tournament. There are other more high profile players on teams already!

People made a really big deal about it a month or two ago, and now Destiny's "bad" behavior is in the public spotlight. There will be intense scrutiny over his actions should he join a team, and the standards to which he will be held will doubtless be much more stringent than had people conjured up that whole language/political correctness debate.

Lol, i swam varsity for my high school, fly 100 and both relays. Swimming is really not a team sport. The only good thing was that there were other people there suffereing with me during morning practice, but you swim/race alone. Same with sc2. You have people helping you out and keeping you entertained...but you play alone...unless u 2v2 ofc.

Even though it's not necessarily a team sport, having a team is a huge benefit. You have a guaranteed support system, people who are always at your level to practice with, as well as the potential for coaches. Having a team is so beneficial to basically every sport, including wrestling, track, etc.

Everyone here is aware of the lack of teamwork in a 1v1. However, being in a team is crucial, as having teammates to practice with, and to discuss strategy with, is really beneficial.

i have confidence destiny can find plenty of quality practice partners to talk/play with even without a team.

sorry but Sheth and FXO parted as FXO and Sheth had currently different goals. Possible he doesnt want to join a team just yet, and Destiny seems tyo prefer being a free agent atm anyway.

Both would get picked up very easily if they wanted it and possibily they will!!

I think you two are really missing the point.

eZrA,I don't know why you're being so rude about it when you're clearly misunderstanding and in the wrong. He just completely explained that they aren't team sports, but training (and by extension, being able to work with) a team is crucial. He literally said "they aren't team sports" in his post, then you refute that saying "they aren't team sports". Reread his post.

Do you not understand?

They are saying that to succeed on a professional team, you have to be able to work (like a mature person) with others ON YOUR TEAM. They are a huge part of your success, provide you with someone to practice against, provide encouragement, etc.

Yes, you can succeed without them. That isn't the point of the topic.

The topic is "Why aren't these people on teams?"
Aocowns' response is "He isn't a good team player."
Your response is "SC2 is not a team game."
Meph's response is "True, but being on a team helps, and you must be able to work with them if you want to be a part of a team".
Your response is "But, but... SC2 isn't a team game."
Meph's response is "Yes, I just said that."

Do you not see the issue here?

Aocowns said that he isn't much of a "team player". That term has a different meaning, at least in English. It doesn't mean "player on a team". It is an idiomatic phrase of sorts. It means "easy to work/play with". Aocowns' statement is saying that Destiny isn't an easy player to get along with in a team environment, and thus, he hasn't been able to stay with a team. I don't know who Destiny is (I don't follow the game), but the sentence is very clearly not saying "SC2 is a team game". It obviously isn't technically a team game. No one would say that.

The next post, atomic55's, said that "SC2 is not a team game, and x, y, and z aren't either".

Theonemephisto posted in response saying:
"Sure, they aren't technically team sports. But try training to stay competitive without a team and see how far you get. Being part of a team is essential, because it's (almost) impossible to motivate and challenge yourself enough alone."

Then you both responded saying "BUT THOSE AREN'T TEAM SPORTS".

Yes, he said that in his post. See it?:
"Sure, they aren't technically team sports."

He is stating (again, read):
"But try training to stay competitive without a team and see how far you get. Being part of a team is essential, because it's (almost) impossible to motivate and challenge yourself enough alone."

The point being made here is that all of those sports, as well as SC2, are team-oriented in the sense of training. SC2 is the BEST example, yet you are refuting it.

In SC2 ESPECIALLY, you need someone to train against. Thus, a team (even if it is a small team with 3-4 players) is very helpful with that.

If you can't get along with your team, you won't stay around for long, and thus, the important of the statement that he isn't "much of a team player".

I hate seeing people completely misunderstand an entire conversation. I know many people here don't speak English as their first language, so I'm trying to clear that up.

Aocowns isn't saying SC2 is technically a team game. Theonemephisto is not saying SC2 is technically a team game.

Repeat:
Aocowns isn't saying SC2 is technically a team game. Theonemephisto is not saying SC2 is technically a team game.

"The only good thing was that there were other people there suffereing with me during morning practice, but you swim/race alone"

That's his entire point. Reread his posts.

I believe teams dont want to sign Destiny in because of his BM. Though that is very short sighted. We all know as viewers of his stream that he is indeed, at least has the potential of being a ultra super good zerg player if given the best of the best practice sessions with other professionals.

As for Sheth, only a matter of time.

True about the BM... but hey look at Major... Sixjax signed him...

Thank you, that saved me some time.

When I swam club and on my varsity college team, our normal training was over 20 hours a week. Combine that with meets almost every weekend and other pool time and we were generally at the pool 25-30 hours a week, every week. And it was hell. Absolute hell. Spending that much time pushing yourself and deliberately causing yourself pain is not an easy thing.

That's what teammates are for. Ask any coach or athlete. Without them, it's (almost) impossible to keep up that kind of effort and still say sane for that long. Not only that, but teammates actually help you get past self-maintained boundaries. Every single one of my best workouts happened because someone else and I decided that the only thing that mattered was beating the other guy. Not our lungs, not our muscles, not our pain, not our mental limitations; it was just him and me. And that let both of us do things we could never dream of otherwise. And not only that, but it's only teammates and the friendships you form with them that can keep you coming back day after day, always knowing that you could quit at any time.

No, they're not team sports. I never said that, and I never will. But being a part of a team is absolutely essential if you want to improve. Without being part of a team, you'll never reach the edges of what you are capable of.

Gaming isn't the same kind of physical grind, but the time commitments and mental exertion are similar. And I imagine that it's just as hard to stay motivated on your own.

If you want to practice your wrestling ALONE, go right ahead-- but I'm unsure how you think you're going to practice without a teammate to wrestle with...

EDIT: also, mephisto said "they aren't team sports" and you respond by saying that "neither of those are team sports"... I'm not sure you actually read his post.

Let's argue about what is technically a team sport and what isn't! :S

Anyways..... WOO GO LIQUID SHETH! I guess I should have seen that coming, but I didn't so I'm pleasantly surprised.

As for Destiny, how good is he anyway? I mean, I know he's a good player, but great enough to be on a major team? idk
