This is my wishlist to a peripheral designer so that they can design me the perfect mouse for playing starcraft 2.

As a very experienced mouse consumer I feel i have the expertise to point out the critical factors for a starcraft 2 mouse. There's plenty of mice that fit some of these criteria, but not any that fit all of my criteria.

My official credentials: I have about 8 gaming mice I have bought in the last few years looking for the right mouse.

1. The mouse must be small enough for a fingertip grip

This means i should NOT be able to rest my hand on the back of my mouse at all. If you like to use a palm/ claw grip for starcraft 2 I wish your shoulder muscels the best of luck. If your hand touches the mouse at all, it means you cannot use your fingers for Y axis movement, hence you need to move your arm... Why do you think all the BW progamers used a LMO? because its small and perfect for fingertip grip.

2. DPI needs to be at least 2500.

Try moving the cursor from the top of the screen to the bottom quickly using only your fingers without losing control on a 1920x 1080 res. Hard to do with less than 1800 DPI right? If your answer is no, then you're probably pushing your arm forward and back. There's some great mice shapes out there with a great shape which are a bit old and could do with a sensorI upgrade. Sure 1800 is plenty, but put some room in there in case resolution ever increases. Most decent sensors are at least 3500 these days, not necessary, but 800 is not enough.

3. Needs to be light

No cordless. And by light, I don't mean relatively heavy for a small mouse.

4. Buttons need to be horizontal or only a slight incline.

Try using a fingertip grip on a mouse with steeply inclining buttons... You're pushing the mouse backwards everytime you push a button. And your other fingers holding it need to counteract this, making it a pain in the ass to use. So please no 45 degree angles at the front.

5.Buttons need to be light and quick to press.

Here's a tip, if you set up the mosue clicking properly in the first place, you wont need to include a feature to modify it. With a fingertip grip the harder you have to press the buttons the more control you sacrifice.

6. Needs to be room for ring finger and pinky.

This is as simple as having a plain surface on the right side of the mouse. No buttons, no ridges, no bullshit. I dont want to be dragging my little finger and i dont want it to to be slipping around. If you're gonna put wings on the side for fingers, put them right at the bottom, make them thin, and design them more of a rest then a mould.

What it doesn't need:

Lights: Lights would obviously increase weight to the mouse. And seriously im a hardcore starcraft playing im not going to lose my mouse in the dark ok?

Fancy looks: Sure its nice to look good, but im not exactly competeing in a fashion parade.

Macro buttons: Useless

'On the fly' sensitivity: Useless for starcraft. Besides, who has time in a FPS to pick up a new weapon, change sensitivty, and then get used to your new sensitivty before someone kills you. Sounds pretty dumb to me.

Now can someone please go make a mouse like this. It just needs to be functional for a fingertip grip and nothing else. OK. No suprises. Doesnt need to smell like pineapple, doesnt need to glow in the dark, doesnt need to have a detatchable ballsac. Just the basics please.

are you describing the Copperhead?

btw I find the way your mouse would look quite a contradiction.

2500 DPI? I have no problem doing what you mention with 1200 DPI 6/11 Windows sens.

2500 DPI is going to give you RSI pretty quickly.

Razer Abyssus pretty much satisfies all your needs, except maybe point 4. You will have to have (kinda) big hands to fully fingertip grip it though.

Was debating between this one and the ZOWIE MiCO. I went with the MiCO because I just had to try the shape (very small and light).

How big are your hands? I'm right now fingertip gripping the Deathadder (although my fingers are only halfway down the mouse buttons), so the Abyssus should not really be a problem.

I'm 6ft and have a 9.5inch handspan. There is no way you can fingertipgrip a deathadder unless your fingers are the size of cucumbers. Try playing a game using your deathadder with only your fingers and see how far you get.

I use a mouse mat with a gel wrist rest (important), and a logitech M500, a very standard wired laser mouse. I grip the side of the mouse with my thumb and 4th finger, and I can easily move my cursor from the bottom to the top of the screen by only using my fingers. Since I got this set-up I have had absolutely no more issues with RSI / gamer sore or anything else.

I agree that "gaming" mice are terrible, but I think you should consider changing the way you use a mouse to the method I describe, so that you can enjoy a full size mouse (even though I don't actually rest my palm on the top of the mouse).

It seems like you are really selective about what you want;: but the honest answer is that there is no store i know of that you can really touch and feel mouses (especially since they dont matter to the majority of people much)/ and that there is so much anti steal packaging now a days ... my recommendation is just to get your hands on as many as you can whether from boxed mouses from the store or from what your friends have. I will tell you about my mistakes though .. i kinda <3 my current wireless mouse from Microsoft but you always need to have a plan to pause and quickly have a battery on hand with a wireless mouse /its a give and take scenario.....ALSO grip material on your favorite mouse can bubble up or wear out so beware of anything rubbery

Razer Salmosa by the looks of what your'e describing. Or Steelseries Kinzu.

I have a xai and my mouse never moves back when i click it even if its got a small ~20 degree slope, but its a very sturdy mouse with decent size and weight, and paired with a good thick cloth pad the friction is very solid.

I got an old Razer Krait, and it matches all of your requirements. It's only 1600 DPI, but that's enough, even for a 1920 * 1080.
It's has a few lights, but the reason you don't want lights is the weight, and these must be 0.1 grams LEDs, so...

Also you're out of your mind if you think you require 2500 dpi to move across 1920x1200 lol

I can go corner to corner on one swipe without moving my wrist with 450 dpi across about 6000 pixels wide and 4000 high, ESPECIALLY if you're using fingertip grip.

I'm like 5'6" and my handspan is significantly smaller than yours and I fingertip grip a deathadder. My fingers are not the size of cucumbers.

And I can and have played games. With only my fingers.

You don't need to have your fingers all the way at the end of the mouse buttons for them to work. As I said, I have my fingers halfway. Makes the buttons a bit harder to press, so it's not ideal.

The Abyssus is about 13mm shorter than the Deathadder, so it should really be no problem to fingertip grip that. Unless you're gripping it in a weird way that we don't know about..

High masters @ EU - one of my friends do this....

What you need is pretty much different for everyone - as long as you are happy with it, who am I to tell you that what you are doing/have bought is wrong...

And regarding the on the fly thing: Personally I used it when I go from one game to another without having to open up the extra window - tbh, it is highly overrated as I've ended up playing all games with my SC sensitivity

I would want something similar to OP. So I will be watching this thread for suggestions.

Have had my eyes on the salmosa or the orochi for a while now.
