I've started my preparations for PAX, as this is the first year I might attend! I know, it's sad that a gamer like me living in the Seattle area has yet to attend a PAX. However, I'm at "might" attending because... well, I didn't know if I could attend at all until tickets were sold out. Now I'm growling at $200 a pop on Craig's list. Hopefully, they'll go down as real people figure out their friends can't make it due to various circumstances.
So, Riku's going to a convention, what does she do?
I start out by planning a new costume to make. While I wear some costumes multiple times, I make sure I had at least one new one for each convention. As costume creation is often a mother-daughter bonding event for me, I generally choose something we can work on together (I avoid all armor costumes, for instance, because she only sews).
This year I have chosen to make a Nidalee costume, so I can bug the crap out of the Riot employees and try my absolute hardest to get a Snow Bunny Nidalee skin. A few weeks ago, I went out and bought the fur for the costume. I would like to brag that I got the PERFECT color fur for Nidalee and that it actually looks very realistic!
I've planned to make the claws/teeth and her spear tip in the same way I made my Alexstrasza horns. That means I'll carve them out of upholstery foam, then spray a light coating of floral paint on them to give them extra color and to give them a protective layer.
The hardest part of this costume is going to be figuring out her top. The bottoms are just 4 pieces of fabric, but the top is half tube-top with weird arm bits. I have a cream colored fur that's longer than the brown fur that I plan to trim her top with, but I'm not sure if I want both the cream and brown fur stretching out around her shoulders or not. Any opinions would be super helpful:

I want thinking of going with this image design:
This is the chinese art for her lepord skin. I really like the design of it:
I'll make a blog that details the full processes when I'm done. I might also write a blog about the creation of my Alexstrasza costume, as I took pictures to document it and have been planning to do that for the past year.
:D
Anyway, now back to searching for those tickets...
