Hi... I'm trying to get to Grandmaster but I lost 4 times by drop hack users
2 times were by EGIdra (fake) and 2 times were by IBGJebacca
how do I deal with this... I really want to become GM but this is getting increasingly frustrating as people just drop hack to prevent me from getting GM. I just lost 48 pts total dealing with them... and I'm at 1.9 k so this is getting increasingly frustrating.
I wish blizzard would be competent, really

10-20 minutes ago, someone did the same to HwangSin on US ladder. I hate when it happens.

I'm not sure of how to interpret this blog... Is it serious ? If it's not serious is it supposed to be funny ? Or am I missing something ?
edit : Also, there's not much Blizzard can do against drop hack, since it's not an in-game hack. Typical way of dropping someone is to flood his router with UDP packets, and Blizzard can't protect your router. You can block all UDP ports other than B.Net, Bittorrent and other services you commonly use. Other common ways to drop someone is using Teardrop / TCP SYN flood, are not always easy to block. Your router can already prevent some vulnerabilities, so make sure you are using the latest version of the firmware. The only thing Blizzard could do is to remove every single P2P feature so that it become impossible for another user to get your IP through B.Net.

this is real and true drop hack needs to be dropped.... idk why ppl do it

What is the drop hack? is it actually cheating or clever use of game mechanics?
Edit: oh nvm i thought you meant like drops in the game. not like DCing the opponent.

So you're accusing Idra of using drop hack to win against sub-GM league players ? So once again, am I missing something, or that guy isn't the real Idra and is a guy who use a small case "L" to fake a capital "i" ?
edit : yeah I missed something (thanks explanation in post below), but OP was really confusing.

More than 1 person can have the same name on battlenet, the only thing that makes the users different is there character code. More than likely this is just a hacker who gave himself the tag EGidra to trick people into thinking that idra is going around hacking.

Yep Its really really bad lately. I've actually stopped laddering on NA all together because i've been hitting so many
I just dont know what can be done about it tbh.

Yes he's a fake, he's been seen on quite a few streams today, and on each one he's used a drophack. I saw him on Tyler's stream earlier today.

Oh I see, in that case why is OP providing user names, it's really confusing when he says he got dropped twice by EGIdra :/
Thank you for the explanation though.

It'd be nice if you made a note in your OP about the fact that this isn't the real Idra, to prevent any sort of confusion.

jebacca has a crazy drophack that just froze up my computer so bad i had to quit.

Drop hack is not a mass-packet DoS style attack. It's exploiting starcraft 2, Blizzard CAN fix it.

A fake PiQLiQ just drophacked me...

It works like a seesaw. Normally its completely level and there's a barely noticeable portion of users that drophack. Occasionally a brand new hack comes out and the balance tips in favour of the hackers. Then Blizzard makes some revisions to Warden and pushes down on their end and equilibrium comes back.

IBGJebacca hack like fucks up your computer slowly until you have to just surrender. What a waste of everyones time

What do you mean by exploiting SC2? Whatever Blizzard can try to fix if you have the guy's IP you can still flood his router.
As I said, if every P2P feature in SC2 is disabled, it's gonna be a lot harder to get your opponent's IP.

I just want to point out that what happened in Call of Duty Black Ops is that a very few people learnt about dashboarding (like drop hacking), then people complained on forums so more people got to know about dashboarding and the problem got worse and worse.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be a thread on it, but maybe someone on TL can take it upon themselves to manage the situation.

another drop hacker: polasja ... it's insane i quit for a while now

I hope blizzard implement a ladder system like ICCUP from this experience...
