Unfortunately, I will not be posting blogs the next two days because I am going to be visiting Canada!
Some might question: Why Canada?
The answer? Beer.
No, seriously, beer. I am going to Victoria, B.C., which has more microbreweries than you can shake a stick at. One of the local pubs, Bard and Banker ( http://www.bardandbanker.com/ ) has a sampler called the ten mile trial or something like that, which features five different beers all brewed within ten miles of the pub.
Also, the Canucks are playing on Monday and I hope to see how crazy it's going to get at the pubs for a serious hockey night in Canada, especially because winning this game would win them the Stanley Cup! Canucks fans are also nuts. Hence why I'm visiting Victoria and not Vancouver. I don't really want to be in the middle of riots.
When I get back, I hope to write some reviews of the beers, food and pubs I encounter while I'm there! So stay tuned!
Edit:

Make sure you don't stick around for the inevitable riots if they don't win ^.^

Luckily, if they lose, they still have one more gave left, they have three wins and their opponents have two.

Victoria itself is a very beautiful place. Make sure you enjoy yourself while you are sober!

Hey! By now you probably aren't going to see this, but PM if you'd like to meet up. I think we could show you a couple of cool places to sample food and beer

I forgot they still have prohibition in the USA. So backward.

Now that I think about it I took a ferry from Seattle to Victoria ~20 years ago. I recall having a good time on that trip (no beer though). I recall Victoria is pretty small yet somehow was less boring than Vancouver :p

Well, for the benefit of other people who might think about visiting Victoria, here are some of the places I was going to suggest.
Food:- The Local Kitchen is my favourite place to go sit in the sunshine and eat lunch. Right on the Inner Harbour.
- Fernwood Inn is a great place for appys and beer.
- The Office has a beer and pizza (flatbread) special on Tuesdays, and pretty good food all the time. Also I'm playing there on Thursday this week >_>
Beer:A small selection of what downtown Victoria has to offer. Enjoy your stay!

Cooool have fun in Victoria. Yeah it will be absolutely crazy if the Canucks win, you should check out Vancouver though. The streets will be wild.
Edit: Don't be afraidddd. Embrace the madness.

go to downtown Vancouver, Granville or any of the main streets. going to be around 100,000+ people there watching the game or celebrating if they win the cup.
|
I live in Victoria and I love it because it's a small city where I can get around to anywhere I need to be with ease which is very useful for now as a college student. Unfortunately, I can't recommend you any places because I don't drink alcohol, but if the Canucks win I can guarantee you all hell is going to break loose in the streets.
Have fun man!

You are planning your trip to avoid the riots? If the finals make it to game 7 I am actually planning on taking a trip to Vancouver just so I can participate in the riots. It should be fun.

ive got fam in victoria. BC is a reeeeeallly beautiful place. so yeah...enjoy the drunken hockey craziness, but also enjoy the island...and the beer :3. nice place. im jealous of you. have a good trip :D

Don't forget to buy some maple syrup and some back bacon.

I live an hour away from Vancouver, and frankly I find the screaming and air raid sirens rather irritating, on top of them agitating that little white dog that lives right outside my window. I can't imagine it getting much worse than it already is.

Did you go? Must have been one sad Vancouver...
Everyone else: Thanks for the support and recommendations. I'll keep them in mind when I make the trip again!
