Unfortunately my computer is overheating, I have left it off for 8 hours and it still keeps overheating. Plus my 250$ GPU that I bought is not working with the motherboard. It won't stay connected, and/or my motherboard cannot handle it. I got 5 games of sc2 in today, and it shut down. Longest for a while. I am typing this on my fathers netbook, ugh. Hopefully my computer isnt broken.. I spent 500$ trying to fix it up and it might not work. Great. Can't afford another if this one breaks. Bad day. You can use Core Temp to monitor the temps on your processor (http://download.cnet.com/Core-Temp/3000-2094_4-10794077.html). If it turns out it's not overheating then you'll have to see what else the problem might be. Also, I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to computer hardware, but you might try asking in the tech support forum. I know people like Myrmidon and JingleHell really know what they're talking about

JingleHell United States11308 Posts June 11 2011 05:04 GMT #4 Eh, I'm ok, skyR, Myrmidon, and Womwomwom are all better than me. But yeah, put up a thread in Tech support with full system specs, and the power of TL might find a solution that doesn't involve spending a pile.

CabelD United States131 Posts June 11 2011 05:05 GMT #5 Ok, I have a 600Hz PSU from rocketfish, got it about a month ago I have a crappy duel core processor that came with my comp I have the GeForce GTX 560 ti as my GPU and 2 gb of ram -- The GPU has overclocking. I cant figure how to turn it off. What usually happens is: 1. when it overheats, nothing happens, it shuts down, etc. When I try to turn it on nothing happens, it stays off. I usually unplug it and let it sit for an hour - 2 hours and then turn it back on. 2. I don't know what causes this. I will turn on the computer, lights will flash, I hear the fans, etc. but nothing happens on the screen and no sound. I usually then have to shut it down and wait a while / take out the GPU and put it back in. Just recently it has started doing this, worked fine for about 3 weeks. --Thanks

Weson Iceland1032 Posts June 11 2011 05:10 GMT #6 Have you checked so all fans are spinning? Have you cleaned the inside of your computer? (You said you have a old 2 core. The overheating issue can be because there are dust built up inside the CPU cooler. If so you have to blow it out)

What OS, and what are you using to monitor temperatures? And you really ought to post this on the Tech support subforum, like I said, I'm not the best of the regulars there, and they may or may not see this in blogs.
