It's been more than a month since the Playstation Network was hacked. Now that everything is back online, I plan on getting back to playing some games on that platform once again. Although I did sell 3 out of 4 games so that I can buy Starcraft 2 at the time, there is one game that might keep me busy for a long time.
For years, I have had my eye on Infamous for a long time. However, I decided to give that game a pass in favor of something that will give me more value for my buck. Something with a bit of multiplayer. Which is why I bought Killzone 2 instead of Infamous.
When I heard that Infamous is going to be one of the free games as part of the Welcome Back promotion, I was damn ecstatic. I can finally get a chance to play that game at no cost at all. "Good things come to those who wait" indeed.
After hours to rebooting the Playstation Store because it's been a bit glitchy probably due to the fact that there are way too many people logging in to PSN at once, I managed to download both that game and Dead Nation. Originally planned on getting Little Big Planet, but why would I do that if I can just buy the sequel, which is definitely the better game.
Now, I just have to wait for days for the game to download completely. The game is 7.4 GBs so that would take me about 3 days to a week because my connection is not that fast. And that also means I cannot play games that have multiplayer. Oh well, I got a couple of single player games at my disposal that I need to finish. I always wondered why in the heck haven't I finished up Deus Ex yet?
While I am thankful for the free games that Sony has released, I wondered why didn't they do the same thing with PSOne classics? Is it because people will get them for free as long as they are a subscriber to Playstation Plus? Btw, I also got that as well, though it won't serve me any purpose aside from downloading Sonic 2 and Abe's Exodus.
Anyways, thanks for reading. GLHF and Happy Blogging!
Was considering little big planet vs dead nation also... how much better is the sequel than LBP? How important is it to play LBP to fully appreciate LBP2? I'm really unsure of how to proceed.
Just tried going to the psn store but I got 'an error has occurred'.

What if I told you that it is possible to create a first person shooter through LBP2's engine?
As for the PSN store, yeah, I get that error message as well. Try reloading the menus of the store and it will be all set and good.
You can just plough through the errors to get your free games, it took me about an hour last night. Much tearing of hair and swearing at the PS3 to do it though :/
just keep forcing it, you get a lot of error messages but it works if you keep trying,
as for LBP, it's a really great game, but you really don't need to play it to appreciate LBP2, as there is no real connection between the games aside from the mechanics, if you have already played infamous then i strongly recommend Super Stardust HD as your 2nd choice, it's an absolutely phenomenal dual stick shooter that is far above the caliber of either everyday shooter and the one on 360, geometry wars
If you're not into dual stick shooters then wipeout is of course amazing, if really hard in typical wipeout fashion, it's a good collection of games, unfortunately for me dead nation is the only one i don't own
Ah ok my infamous is downloading now. I think I'll just get LBP and if I like it, eventually LBP 2. I have the choice of getting the other welcome back games on my dime in the future also.
Ironically, I'm not playing any of them right now.

LBP and LBP2 are very similar. Both are amazing to play with friends. So much fan. LBP2 is just richer version of LBP with more stickers, clothes, levels etc. But seriously both are lots of fun.
And there is probably no point is getting one just after the other because they are that similar
I started downloading my free ps3 games; I tried to get one of the free psp games but I think I backed out of the menu before choosing which game I wanted... when I tried going back the option for free psp game #1 was missing..... yea.... wtf.
I tried calling support but I am getting a message that due to the high demand they are unable to answer my call.
Sony FU.
edit: after going back and forth in the menus half a dozen times I finally got into the queue: 9 minute estimated wait time. Why the fuck weren't they letting me queue the first time? I don't mind a 10 minute wait in a high-volume time like right now ._.
I REALLY hate when companies cap their queues so strictly.

You can sort it out by going to the Playstation network bit of the main menu, then to account management, services, SCEE promotions and then you should be able to choose games from there.
oh and make sure you get the 30 days of free playstation plus, no reason not too, and you can get discounts for some games you might have been interested in
By the way, how long do we have to access this (such as the free playstation plus) before the deals go away? I want to get the playstation plus later so my 30 day timer doesn't start... but I don't want to miss the cutoff.

edit: which psp games are worthwhile
Final fantasy tactics war of the lions, gogoggo
Um... isn't it obvious I meant the free games from the welcome back program? lol

PSP games, huh? Well, I highly recommend Killzone: Liberations. For an isometric shooter, it's pretty well made.
