I thought that gaming is a waste of time.
This is probably one of the biggest frustrations i've ever had in SC community.
Let me get this straight: So I decided to get an account at fish and start fishing laddering there as iccup can sometimes be so peruvian (no offense to peruvians if you have ah/don't pick protoss 2 gate every single PvZ). Well, despite how much i like iccup (how can you not like iccup if it's the only place you can get wins?) I thought that some diversity won't hurt.
So, I decided to 4 pool computer 30 times and then unlock my account for ladder (you can do that to unlock an account for ladder, right? I mean, every single game counts afaik). During 23th or 24th game, I received this message: "Server will shutdown in 1? 0?". And my connection to b.net was lost. And the server is in a fucking maintenance. Yeah, I know that maintenance of fish takes 1 or 2 hours at most, but it's 23.15 here and I have classes tomorrow. So, I probably spent my 1.5-2 hours for nothing as my account will get closed tomorrow. I could properly ladder on iccup in that time instead of stupidly 4 pooling stupid zerg computer all this time.
Like I said: For the first time in my life, I thought that gaming is a waste of time.

Yeah, I remember when I still used to play SC1 before SC2, everytime I hosted a game and saw [PE] and red latency. I could always expect some cheese mixed in with terrible terrible lag. Later on I just decided to straight up ban every peruvian. Many of them are like that cancer of BW.. no offense

If you're not having fun, then gaming is wasted on you.
If you don't get any enjoyment in those games and the sole way you feel good or entertained in gaming is through progression, then perhaps it is maybe time to reconsider something that is beneficial towards your own self-worth and esteem than gaming.
Then again, this is my perception. To be honest, it's always a good idea to play a diverse amount of gaming.

Yeah, that's the fish server. You can't play ladder games until you play 30 games on the server. Helps to prevent smurfing.

I actually have fun from 4pooling zerg comp. But, thing is i would have more fun if I laddered on iccup.

You could have actually played the melee games instead of spamming 4 pool against the computer. You probably wouldn't have felt like you wasted your time then.
Why do you think your account is going to get closed anyway.

Well, you DID waste your time and thats just unfortunate. Nothing else to be said im afraid...

That was just unfortunate on your part... most times that you were gonna play 30 games to unlock ladder, the server wouldn't have shut down and you'd be happy laddering 6 games after. Bad lucky happens to us always! I sometimes get the feeling when I lose a save file in a RPG game, it just feels like you've wasted 20 hours (or more ) for nothing =(

lol peruvian zergs were such a pain. 6 pool or hydra break with no exception. I honestly think those guys thrived in a 500+ ms lat environment too. ^^

Fish server goes down for maintenance a lot and it doesn't reset your stats afterwards. So the only thing he wasted his time doing was 4 pooling the computer 24 times instead of laddering on iccup.

Just find someone on TL to play the games with or host/join melee games

Gaming is just about the biggest waste of time there is. If I studied just as much as I gamed university would be a piece of piss. Yet, for some reason I cannot drag my self away xD

Well, server got back up after half an hour and I completed my array of 4pools. After 30th, I even got my first ladder loss (well, I forgot to switch my race from Terran to Zerg and tried an 8 rax against a random opponent hoping that he got a Zerg).
@sweetas gaming is a time filler, not a waste of time, but well, you shouldn't game when you have to study (i learned it big time).
@FFGenerations: I was an ex-MMO player as well. It actually IS a waste of time (you understand this after switching into an RTS but still don't admit  )
@Harem: Where do TL guys hang out at Fish? I tried op teamliquid but it was fucking empty.
