Today, I woke up to an extremely strange email.
Subject: "Receipt No. 14534813"
My first thoughts were that it was just a spam email that I should ignore. However, being a Gmail user, having spam in my inbox is extremely uncommon (albeit not unheard of). Quickly, my thoughts changed to my PayPal or online banking account being hacked; had someone stolen my money via the internet? I became panicked. "What the hell do I do? Someone's stolen my money!". But, then, I calmed down a bit and realised I should at least read the damn email first.
So, I opened the email and gave it a quick read. The billing information listed in the email was not my address so I became instantly relieved. Thankfully, someone hadn't hacked any of my accounts. So what was this all about?
Apparently someone had paid for "1 year membership" for $119.98. Wow what the hell is this? 1 year membership to what? Why does it cost that much? Who the hell did this?
Luckily, the email contained both the website involved and the login username and password. So, intrigued, I decided to click on the website to see what it was. Lo and behold, it was some porn website(NSFW, obviously). My mind turned back to it being some sort of spam; perhaps it was just some form of advertisement they used to promote their site.
I attempted to login with the username and password that came with the email, surely it wouldn't work?
But, somehow, I managed to login successfully.
So, now, I've got access to someone's account, on some random porn website I've never heard of, that cost him $120. For some reason the person decided to register it to my email address so, other than his actual name and home address I have no actual way of contacting him to tell him his error.
What should I do? Ignore it? Keep the account for myself? Write the guy a letter to inform him (he lives in another country so that would be weird)?

LOL.
I'll send you a packet of tissue to your mail address.

With his name and home adress it shouldn't be so hard finding out his phone number, get some free porn and then give his stuff back

o_O I'm guessing the guy has similar email address and made a mistake typing it in?

Haha, I'm sure the guy will get in touch with the site's support and probably manage to get it back. You should probably just enjoy it while it lasts.

If this is something your grandparents would even consider doing for you, you have one weird family. I'd say search him up on facebook, and post on his wall that you found his pron account.

Unless I'm missing something... the obvious answer seems to be to just contact the website? Tell them the account in question, etc. They're the ones who ultimately have power over their site to either fix these errors or provide a refund. It's not your fault, not your problem. The most you would really need to do is just make site admins aware of the problem and put it in their hands. No stalking the guy down on Facebook and sending him an awkward email required.

Looks like a sticky situation.
Better not rub it the wrong way.
Perhaps there is a deeper meaning.
This is really some seedy stuff.
Um... I'm out of puns. I need to get more sleep...
It would be mighty generous if you wrote a letter to that guy. Depending on your interests in this kind of material, you may or may not be interested in exploring the membership benefits before handing the account over or ignoring it completely.
On one hand, you can enjoy the benefits of a new-found acquaintance and some free material with little or no risk. On the other hand, you can ignore it and move on with your life as though this never happened. You call, good sir.

Either use it or delete the e-mail. I don't know if there are any legal problems with you using what he paid for, or if he could even track you anyway.

If it was something that wasnt as taboo as a porn account I would surely look him up and try to set it right. Maybe its easier to contact the web page in a case like this to keep it a little less personal ? I guess you could just delete the email and pretend it never happend as well.

If you retain control of the account how do you know the real owner won't accuse you of using his credit card? Best to contact the site and tell them about the error.

This is probably the best idea. Getting accused of stealing his credit card info and using it wouldn't be that fun...
