Take for example zergs. While I was in Plat when I would run a 3 gate heavy sentry FE build, most zergs would poke my ramp with their lings and then just run back home/get xelnaga towers. Once I had about 6 sentries and a few zealots most zergs would not even try to engage my front. Even if my army was sitting in poor spot they wouldn't notice it because they were not being active with their early lings. Every zerg I've faced since making Diamond has been able to harass my front much better. I even lost a game or two to a zerg just making a crap ton of lings early and smashing my front before I had too many units.
Terrans seem to be much more aggressive now. I saw a lot of early marine/marauders strats that I wasn't used to. They control their MM ball a lot better also. Scoot and shoot micro is now used by every Terran I play.
I only had a couple PvPs during my first ladder session. PvP is still by far my worse matchup so I pretty much just got destroyed in them.
I recently watched day9 daily #269 (check it out here). Sean talked about how one should approach getting better at SC2. He talked about being in the right mind set while playing. I, and I'm sure some of you, can let their anger get the best of them while playing games competitively. Near the end of the daily he had a great point about just letting feeling of being mad just pass. I used to nerd rage a ton when I played games, especially when playing Halo lol. I feel that in recent years I've been able to control my anger well but I still have some episodes while playing. So from now on if I feel that I'm about to start another episode of what my sister calls "Scary Siege" I'm just going to step away for a second and clear my mind.
Sean also talked about setting goals for yourself and celebrating those goals when reached. So I'm going to start setting 2 week goals for myself. For my first goal, I want to win 30 pvp matches in the next 2 weeks.
I just ordered a webcam and mic so maybe in the future I'll be doing some VODs/Commentary.Add me if you wanna game (Siege CC=627). I love feedback so feel free to reply!
