Blizzard just cleaned out the inactive players, by definition the lower leagues are flooded with inactives and so the whole "20% distribution" thing probably got fucked up. Either way your MMR hasn't changed, hell, enjoy the free wins against the people that changed races for the season.

If the ladder reset already happened on the server he's playing on, it most likely filtered out a lot of inactive players. Also, as stated in the ladder analysis thread, each league is supposed to hold about 20% of the active players in the game with diamond as an exception with 18% because top 2% is masters. So if the ladder reset, that also means the amount of players being ranked at the moment got reduced drastically, as a lot players have went inactive. Most of these now inactive players are probably in Bronze to Silver. So if most of the players in those leagues now have no rank, that means new players need to fill those leagues, and since most actually good players are still active, the percentages filling up the higher leagues will be higher, meaning the people in the middle of the ladder will now be lower. That's because out of all players who bought StarCraft they're somewhere in the middle, but of all active they're at the bottom. About your rank. Since it got reset everyone is going to be ranked really close to each other pointwise so it shouldn't be hard to rank up again. TL;DR: It doesn't have to do anything with your skill, since the reset filtered out a lot of inactive players in Bronze/Silver, some Gold/Platinum players will have to fill up that space so that there can be 20% players in each league.

You really should not be bitching about your rank at this point in time. It's totally meaningless. Worry more about your game skill. The only people competitive at this game are at top of masters. If you're less than that, just keep playing to improve. Don't waste time on TL getting mad over your arbitrary rank drop. Trust that the system works just fine for players that actually play well. Bronze to Diamond is all just a bunch of nonsense. Anyone worth their salt is going to be at least mid-masters or higher, and at that point it's quite easy to see what level you are at. Lower than that is mostly just people without a good grasp of RTS flailing away at each other without a clue. Harsh but true. If you mean competitive as in tournament quality, even mid-master's doesn't really translate into results. If your skill level really hovers around gold, you'll be back there after playing enough games, don't worry.

I'm an incredibly competitive player, and it really pisses me off when I feel lied to. I felt as if I was a gold/platinum player because that was all I was playing wtf. You're "Done with this game" because of something like this? Then thank god. Get your whining ass out of here.

I can assure you that if you were worthy of getting to platinum, you would have gotten there by the 30th game, much less the 500th. You are where you are because that's where you belong at the moment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ranking system. Everyone I know who is good is in Masters somewhere. Everyone I know who is a casual, clueless, have fun gamer is somewhere diamond or below. The only nonsense is that you think at 500 games and still in gold/silver, you can start yawning, getting bored, and talking about quitting. You've barely left the difficulty level of the campaign game, yet you're going to quit because you think they made a mistake in ranking you?

Him: "WTF" yeah. Sigh. Game is boring again. Pretty much I'm reading: Boo hoo I didn't get a promotion and this game is boring now because I'm doing poorly and not working on my mechanics or macro or micro so I got demoted and I'm posting a QQ thread about it and this game is boring because I'm not doing well and boo hoo. Yes, I'm reading it like it's one completely long, drawn out sentence as well. If you have grown to love this game, you'll realize this is but a minor setback, and you can work your way back up. Like people have said; If you were doing well in gold, you'll get out of silver easily. Consider this a chance to go back and rework your mechanics and builds, and to really focus on your macro or micro. I've played against bronze players with 1,000+ games, and they are still in bronze. My ex didn't get a promotion for MONTHS until he changed race and focused hard on his micro. If you're going to give up this easily, eSports, or even just sports in general, are not for you. We won't consider it a loss if you stop whining and stop playing.

Matchmaking is done by mostly MMR, not by league/rank

It encourages people to play and to get to wherever they are. Really though, I don't understand the whining. Just play more games and you'll promote yourself. It's not like your games are somehow different since your rank is different, your MMR is independent of your league, so games are games are games. Have fun with SC2. But this is the same as how achievements are in seemingly every game, and people play for those, I suppose.

2 . if you're truly competitive stop being a baby and complaining about ranks and leagues. beat players, get better, the game will eventually recognize you. you're not gonna go unrecognized if you win 30 straight. 3. if you keep doing well the system WILL work. i guarantee you it will. when i was climbing through the ranks i slowly worked my way up. i was first silver, demoted to bronze, then started playing better and i got into diamond. you're thinking too much about getting into platinum and not getting better. 4. i don't care if this is a rant, stop being a baby and suck it up. you're not going to get anywhere by saying shit like "i'm quiting this game" or "fuck this system".

It makes me not want to play the game if I constantly progress and then I'm thrown down the dumps. It's not as if I've been playing silver players much lol. I've been playing only gold players with the occasional silver. Sitting at rank 1 gold for months means that thats where you're likely to be. Losing the placement match bumped your average MMR down to gold level. keep playing and if you're meant to be gold you'll be gold.. Unless you're some kind of idiot who measures his penis length by what league he is and has a little tantrum about not being where he wants to be, you really shouldn't care about what league you're in as long as you're having fun games. Are you that kind of idiot?
