This is pretty dumb and I don't normally get pissed off about Starcraft or games in general, but I cannot win a PvT for the life of me. I recently got promoted to diamond maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago, and at first I was doing fine, but out of nowhere every terran I played just destroyed me. It seems like 85% of the terrans I play either 1) Do some stim timing push (which I find near impossible to stop) or 2) do some turtling tank garbage where they build turrets around their base so my observer can't get in and just proceed to turtle while I expand. Then I try to push in and die. I don't know what it is, but PvT is driving me nuts!!!
Sorry to rant like this but I'm currently frustrated beyond belief. I really don't like 4-gating I'd much rather play some form of a macro game (I at least think thats where I happen to shine). But, if you guys have any advice please share, or if you want to rant about some matchup you're having trouble with feel free to let loose!
4 gate dominates terrans even at the masters league level. my pvz and pvp is so bad that i can just 4 gate terrans and always win since my mmr is lowered due to pvz and pvp.
4 gate dominates terrans. just attack right when 4 gate finishes (and you have like 7 units or something) dont wait too long. if it fails, then you can macro. just because you dont like it it doesnt mean you shouldnt do it ^^
usually i would turtle with senties and one bases collsis and when my second one is out push out and go from there usually hit his expo, then expo myself and transition into high templars.. that usually works for me.
Stim timing requires good ff micro. if it's marine heavy you need guardian shield. Also when they turtle like that expand, but don't attack. You're better off just getting maxed way easier and getting a sturdy composition and a ton of gates.
I don't recommend one base colossus: generally the terran can hold the first attack, and after that they just have enough bio they can take you out despite the collossi.

I have about a 70-80% winrate in PvT atm, but I can't PvT at all. There are a few TvP pushes that if the Terran does, I have a very low chance of stopping it, but fortunately, those pushes don't happen a lot. The one build that I'm most successful at is a 2 colo timing push. What you do is open gate robo gate and pump zealots and stalkers. Use your scouting prove to see if the Terran pushes. If the Terran does not, save your chrono boost. When the robo finishes, build a robo bay, an immortal, and a 3rd gate. Save about 300 or so gas. When robo bay finishes, build a colo and then thermal lance @ 200 gas and then another colo. Spend all your chrono on the two colo. Right as the 2nd colo finishes, use scouting probe to build a proxy pylon and then push. This push is very hard to stop as Terran.
The proper build for a learning protoss to use is kinda as follows
build your pylon/gateway/gas/pylon/cyber as always.
As the cyber finishes you throw down the robo with your first 100 gas.
Depending on what you like, the next either 50 or 100 gas goes to a sentry or a stalker. THEN and only THEN do you start your warpgate research.
Get a second gateway around now, and chrono the shit outa that robo cause you want that observer as fast as you can. You will NEVER be caught off guard with this if you have a probe sitting as his choke until the obs comes out. Depending on what the obs see's you pretty much do what you think would be a good idea at the time. Whats he building? Does he have a command center? Does he have 2 gas? Does he have a "oh god I'm gonna die" amount of units? Do I need to make another obs for a possible cloak banshee in my base any second?
Just run through the mental checklist of all the stupid shit Terran can do with what he has on the field. Play proper, and react well, you should do just fine.
Try this. I use it in a lot of my PvTs and is probably the build I win most with. It can be tough to hold against some all-ins or early timing attacks, but a lot of Terran don't really know how to best punish a FE. You'd be surprised at some of the agression you're able to hold off, especially with good forcefields. Most of the time, if you survive the first attack, it's game over.

have you tryed a 1gate expo build? its really stron against any sort of terran build and can easily hold 3 rax. the only things that could give you trouble would be polt timing, marine scv allin(which can be easily held off with some stalker micro) and thor rush(which you hardly see nowadays after the nerf). imo its generaly a bad idea to pressure terran early on due to stupid maruaders slowing all your stuff down. defending while out macroing and harrasing then smashing them with a strong lategame seems to work best ( after all, terrans qq about toss late game all the time) at least for me

people improve in bursts. Awhile ago I found out all I need is mass speedling to beat a 4 gate, and went on a 10 game streak into master league. Now I'm having trouble beating toss who does 3 gateway expand and more conservative, and I'm figuring out what I can do against it.
