And you don't/didn't look like a blimp or something in the 205/220 pictures. I know a handful of people who are 200+ but have the frame for it and look like they're in pretty good shape.

I was very fat as a child, and was bullied for it (that and being half algerian and having, and i quote, "nigger lips". Kids hey). When i arrived at university i weighed around 245lbs ie. a lot when you are just under 6 foot. Over the 5 years i was there (4 undergrad, and 1 for my masters) i got my weight down to 165lbs through a combination of weight lifting 3/4 days a week, and climbing on a daily basis (we had an indoor bouldering wall at uni). For the first time in my life i was truly proud of my body, i actually had muscles, and one better, I even had abs. Now, I was a guy that hadn't ever taken his shirt off in public, but once I had this new body, I became a bit of a show off. We're having a bbq - shirt off. We're going to sit in a beer garden - shirt off. "is that the sun i see poking through the clouds" - shirt off. I grabbed every opportunity to take my shirt off with both hand (thats right I became THAT guy). Anyway, i left university 2 years ago, and the combination of no exercise, and a desk job has meant that my weight has gone back up to 195 lbs. I'm unhappy with my body again, the shirt has stayed on for at least a year, and I've lost the confidence i gained when i lost all the weight. I realise its my own fault, which pisses me off even more, and i realise that i need to start doing something soon, otherwise 245lbs will become reality for me once again. Basically, i have to thank you mate, looking through your post and at your pics has motivated me to start losing weight again. I also think that i might start a blog, showing before, after and the transition in between. Hopefully the TL community might help keep me motivated. Thanks again pal

and I thought if you bodybuild you end up weighing more since muscle is heavier than fat. Is this not the case? I am already husky and I'd rather slim/tone down than get bulkier but I guess a little muscle growth wouldn't be bad.

But women do care what you look like, and the better you look the better your chances are. So keep in the habit of working out and work slowly but surely to your goals. Also a haircut, women love well groomed men, or just seeing your making an effort. when ever you leave the house or meet anyone have the mentality that your crush will be there or might turn up so always look your best; clothes, grooming, etc. Also if your into anime watch Hajime no Ippo you'll want to get exercising for sure. Music tracks that get you in the mood are great to; like Eye of the Tiger etc.

Whilst running is helpful for developping cardio and losing some fat, in my experience i've found the crossfit routines to be much more responseful for fat loss, and you tone up in muscle (not bulky). my favorite set lately is 10x cleans 10x pushups 10x squats and you do 10 sets of these or for a full 20 minutes if you can last that long. Ideally, no breaks in between, but if you reach a point where you're super sore, stretch for 30 seconds and then keep going. these are the results i managed to get doing this only TWICE a week, compared to five times a weke. and i'm still eating a lot of junk food and stuff. A lot of the times, i could only do it once a week because of midterms >_< Picture in spoiler + Show Spoiler + ![]() Cindy's are also great, just replacing the cleans with chinups. When you're too weak to continue doing chinups, just do negatives instead, still tiring on your arms. another one was 400 meter run, 10 pushups, 400 meter run, 10 squats. orrr, 400 meter run, 10 situps/knees to elbows, 400 meter run, pushup/+squats the idea is to make your entire body reach an anerobic state so that your heart has to pump blood everywhere instead of a specific section (running mainly pumps to legs and core, only a little to arms). You have another 5 weeks until new years! YOU CAN DO IT! wooooooo

I'm 6 feet, so bit above average I guess. Yeah, don't let the cold weather keep you inside. Obviously we are talking colder than this but around 40-45 is like optimal running weather for shorts/t-shirt (might need gloves). If its colder than that ill usuallly switch to windpants and then add a long sleeve athletic shirt/hat/windbreaker as the temperature gets colder. Anything above about ten degrees or so I find that combo to be totally fine for. Rarely gets colder than that here but if it does I'd just add another layer or maybe a sweatshirt or something. Honestely I love going outside to run when it snows because it just has an epic feel to it. Nothing like running along in the middle of a massive snowstorm around twilight. If your worried about traction a real cheap option is to get some 3/8 screws and put them into an old pair of running shoes. I get good traction even on pure ice with this; and its alot cheaper than going out an buying yaktrax or something. Refer to the tl health & fitness thread if you want more help I don't understand the angle here. Weight loss is about calories in v calories out. Running 10+ miles a day burns alot of calories; assuming you don't gorge yourself just because your running you'll have a way larger caloric deficit. Running is about as good as it gets for burning calories per unit time. The lifting, diet, etc, are all good and I couldn't agree more; but I think its not at correct to say running doesn't do much for you.

this isn't to say running a lot DOESN"T help, but a mixture of the two is better. Some days runnning, some days high intensity interval workout will yield the best results while developping a stronger cardiovascular system :D
