I just now got my 50th win, putting me at about 50-46. I notice that a lot of my mechanics suffer because of how spread I am at times on racial selections the game gives me. Some nights random = zerg * 5 and other nights will seem more evenly distributed. As someone without consistent practice partners, it's hard to really get solid, non-ladder sessions in, so, my mechanics are decent, but nothing to write home about as I seem to be stuck in a limbo where I'll go up, and then down, then back up, facing high plat to low diamonds, with the occasional fluke wins over higher diamond players.
Do you guys find partners and play 3 games as terran, 3 as zerg, 3 as toss, etc? Or do you practice differently?
(P.S., I know there is a practice partner thread, but it seems to be hard to get adequate partners there as they will either be really super hardcore and constantly crush me or just straight up refuse to play with me because of the difference in skill, which I don't blame them, or they will be a bit too casual and not play enough.)

Concerning the PP thread, it does show the rating of all the players, why not just pick someone with a rating very similar to yours. They shouldnt be too hardcore for you and if you add like 10-15 players I'm sure you'll find someone to do good practice with.

most people that random just end up having to play more than others to keep up. it's either that, or having greater rts understanding that can keep a random player competitive.
if you're not very experienced with rts and you don't have shittons of time to play, and you want to be competitive, then just play one race. now that you have about 100 games under your belt you can probably make a decision on which race to continue with anyway.
the thing with sc2 (also bw) is that zerg plays very differently from the other races, mostly because the hatchery produces every unit. for protoss and terran it's quite easy to grasp that you should just generally always produce peons and spend the rest of your income on units or expansions or tech, but with zerg you have to constantly know whether this is a time where you can power up, or whether this is a time where you need to make units.

To be more useful... man... we talkin about practice. Not the game.. but practice.
I find learning mirrors a beneficial place for randoms to start.

Personally I feel as though you dont have nearly enough games played with random to be getting any form of real practice. 100 games with random can be seen as only 33 games with each race. After only 33 games of terran I would still be REALLY bad. Eridator is right that random players must play alot to maintain skill. My suggestion would be to start playing 8-10 games a night for the next month. So, roughly 300games as random in 1 month, and you will start to develop much better mechanics, as well as understanding of matchups. 100 games just is not enough practice imo to maintain a skill level with random

Just wondering, why do people like going random? Learning 9 matchups seems like a massive pain in the ass

Yeah, I feel my TvT and PvP is solid, but, ZvZ... ugh x.x; thanks everyone for the input. and to the above question: For me, I just like playing all the races and having variety. while I agree, 96ish games isn't very much in terms compared to others, but, I feel as I have about an average grasp of stuff for the most part, sans racial specifics as , like I said, can be awkward due to inconsistency.
