I think the stupid thing about Forcefields is the fact that you can't do anything to stop it as a Zerg. Burrow. Burrow. Burrow. Just wait out the force field. All you need to do is make sure he can't kill your split up units, and burrow gives your best chances for that. It's not like your opponent can run through a force field wall, and it's not like they last forever. Plus, your roaches will regen and come back less wounded for a counter push. The burrow forces your opponent into getting robo and observers, which means he has less a few less sentries for force field spam.

It's 200/200 that really isn't being used for anything else, because there's no reason to burrow anything once P has observers.

I would like to see Zealot/Sentry with Ground Weapons upgrades used more frequently, because both units gain a large percentile damage bonus from upgrades whereas Stalkers do not. (Colossi and Archons as well.) On November 08 2010 01:24 fdsdfg wrote: The natural evolution of a Protoss army winds up with a Robo and colossus - especially if you're going roaches. It's 200/200 that really isn't being used for anything else, because there's no reason to burrow anything once P has observers. Burrow is 100/100, and was very useful in BW for a variety of things, including blocking or sniping expansions and scouting the map. Proper observer coverage (not just a couple) costs a lot of gas that could could sentries or templar. For SC2, it's a no-brainer... fast-healing Roaches and burrow-moving Infestors is great, and you can still use it for other units (it's just not very useful in the middle of a fight if obs are present). Tunneling Claws is a harder sell. It's more expensive and only applies to one unit. If you're using a lot of roaches, it's very strong... but is it strong enough to justify building a ton of roaches in the first place? The problem is that sucks for the Zerg player. Just one-way micro tasks. The Zerg micro task is to minimize the effect of Force Fields/Storms and such. Zerg/Terran units generally demolish Protoss units unless Protoss units are using magic tricks... so naturally Protoss magic tricks are very powerful. For the Zerg, proper flanking, positional play, and well-timed attacks/retreats will greatly reduce the threat of Blink/Force Field/Storm. Just as strong timing and positional play by the Protoss will make them more deadly.

Besides, burrow tech is not cheap. It's 200/200 Burrow tech is 100/100 after getting the lair, and any zerg expansion can also get the upgrade. If two roaches are saved from a force field split, then it has paid off.Tunneling claws are 150/150, and are not required at that point.

it only costs 100/100, and it applies to all of your units. Let's see the uses: burrowed banelings, burrow move under force fields, burrow workers when your mineral line is dropped/harassed, running lings into your opponent's base burrow half and harass later. Sure an observer and a scan will see burrowed units, but how many of them do you need to cover every place where burrow is used? and how much resources are you trading with your 100/100? Also in the recent TLO vs huk game, TLO got early burrow and huk was unable to move out until observer is out, which delayed huks push by a lot and TLO had time to respond accordingly.

You need Ultralisks to ultimately deal with forcefields but before that you need positioning and proper flanking to dry up sentry energy before the protoss gets into a good position. Ultimately the movie proves nothing nobody didnt know, Artosis has said that Idra offraces when he gets angry or upset or is at a loss as to what to do against this and that, the added perspective can help many people step up their game.

Observer.. Tunnel...The huge thing about force field is that it allows Protoss to split up enemy forces. Tunnel beats that advantage by letting the roaches regroup with minimal losses. Even if an observer spots them, the roach regeneration minimizes their losses until they can unburrow on better ground. That zerg player built 2 dozen zerglings against sentries, didn't harass, didn't reposition, and went all in roach vs. blink stalker spam. Of course he lost.

Observers + many Sentries? That's a lot of gas. With that much gas sunk into Obs/Sentry, Protoss will be low on Upgrades/Tech/High Tech Units. Unsurprisingly, it's a trade-off. To have a lot of Forcefields, you must either spend most of your early gas on Sentries so that they can save up energy (which restricts your ability to pressure early) or spend a ton of gas on Sentries later (since they'll each have less energy).

Personally I hate Sentries and I respect my Enemies also with not making any of them. ForceFields are tearing up all the Matchups (that involves a Protoss) I think. He makes a ring of FF's around his army, taking out that zerg's expo while holding the army back, takes his hands off keyboard and mouse and turns around - "You see?!?!?!" LOLOLOL And the epic quote... "Are you going to play P in GSL3?" - "If I know how to make sentries" ... reminds me of Idra "Making Sentries is a good skill toi have" =D Edit: So many other priceless moments ![]() Edit 2: OK I can't resist ... the moment he gets the achievement for saving stalkers with blink.. BAM claps... "YOU SEE?!?!" HAHAHA Oh man I am watching this over and over again...
