Life isn't fair, and wasn't intended to be fair. If you don't already understand that, let me give you an example. My placement games were my first 5 Starcraft games, ever. That said, I did horribly and was placed into bronze. Present day, my friend played his practice matches and went 4-1, he has now achieved my goal of Platinum. I'm happy for him, but also mad cause he knows I'm better, yet he has a better placing. I know I shouldn't be mad, and I might get some bad comments, but I wanted to voice my opinion. Thanks for reading and make sure to check out my first post stating the point of this, and my Day 1 Review. Thanks!

Yeah, I was put into bronze, even though I'm said higher. Had to work my wait to diamond, around 1200 right now. Doesn't matter if you love SC you're going to play anyway right lol.
Okay so you're saying you played your placement matches and did shitty and were put in bronze, then someone else did better and was put in platinum.
Seems pretty fair to me.
Yeah, I think I will keep trying, I'm at 542 points, I look at his Plat league, and I would be in 6th if the game was based on points.
You would be making this same post if you did get placed into Platinum.
how do you know you are better than your friend?, If you actually are, then you should roflstomp bronze, or, he doesn't belong in plat in which case he will lose most of the ladder games he plays for a while, and likely get demoted, also, points only really show how much you've played\
JodoYodo: We have both agreed that I'm the better even though he is in Plat a176: I know, but then I would have pushed him more, and wouldn't have needed this blog.
To be fair, there's no significant skill difference between bronze and plat.
I remember in Beta i went 7-3 in my placements and hit Copper. It was a fun battle to go from copper to gold before the first reset.
Don't take league ranking too seriously. You will enjoy most of your games you play anyway and eventually you will get promoted.

Thanks Kralic, please don't give me bad blog ratings, I'm not trying to upset people, but just journal about my journey through Starcraft. Thanks for understanding!
I wouldn't worry about it much. Since you know you're better than your friend, you should surpass him shortly. If you think about the leagues as a car race (nascar/formula 1/whatev) and rank 1 diamond as the finish line, your friend had a better qualifier round thus got to start a some number of cars ahead of you. The best racers can reach get past their minor setback in the beginning and win that race. I'm not saying reaching rank 1 diamond is a race but i think you get the idea.
lol and I finish 2-3, one lose was cause I suck, the other cause my PC freezed and the last cause my internet went down... suck it up and go play some games...
Ahaha this is your example for "life isn't fair" ? ><
It doesn't matter that your friend and you agree that you're better. You could be Boxer, it doesn't matter; the fact is that you played poorly and you were placed in a lesser league. That is your fault and not because life is unfair. What's unfair is that somewhere, actual bad shit is going down and you think life is unfair because you're not in the SC2 league that you want to be in.
Where's Chill when you need him?
Thanks Jodo, I was actually thinking about the best player for each race and how one day I could be them. What can Chill do for me?
Because apparently "life = Starcraft". Even in the TL forums I don't think that's embraced.
This is not an example of life being unfair. This is an example of your friend being smarter than you.
Basically, this:

Your friend might be patronizing you? Or you are better at theorycrafting and he is better at macro/multitasking/APM? Back in the birth of BW i was THE man for theorycrafting, unit composition, builds, just a knowledgebank (that is, among me and my friends, nothing compared to lets say the average D- player) but i still lost most matches against my friends who for some reason always seemed to get more units out faster...
600+ points in bronze, how many games are that played? If you are plat skill you should roflstomp your way out of there.

this is about the dumbest example of how life isnt fair ever... do custom games before you do your placements
