i really enjoyed religulous, can you recommend similar kinda stuff?
ive seen michael moores films and the yes men, havent seen any global warming stuff (doesnt seem that interesting? idk)
im going to get freakanomics, which seems on this vein? idk, link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152822/
and some movie about enron
i havent had net for 2-3? weeks now so if there are any other new movie recommendations theyd be appreciated

i don't know if this fits your description, since its not really about politics or a persuading documentary like moore's movies but it's an awesome documentary about the origins of street art. i really enjoyed it

hm tnx for the suggestion. im interested in stuff about how stupid or corrupt real life people are. like that short youtube clip where americans are asked where iraq is and one guy thinks its australia and says they should attack from the east
|
I assume because of Religulous, maybe you have an anti-religious bent? If so, or you don't mind seeing religion shown in a negative light, try out "Jesus Camp". The movie is a bit misleading at times--as most documentaries are--but it's worth checking out.
|
Religulous was fucking excellent. Jesus Camp was disturbing.
|
i highly suggest you take a look at all of Christopher Hitchen's work.
|
well id rather shit avoid being extremist and be more generally representitive but ill get that aswell tnx
|
Richard Dawkins has a few movies on religion. Check them out on his website.
|
Yep, Hitchens is all you need on this subject. Bill Maher, frankly, comes off as nothing but a freshman college student who screams MORON at any religious person by comparison. You should really spend some time reading his works too. He has in fact written amazing books which don't all deal with religion directly.
However, I should warn you. Christopher Hitchens will ruin your brain if you consider Michael Moore the pinnacle of recent political discourse.
|
Jesus camp if you want to see some pretty fucked up shit
|
richard dawkins has some good videos explaining some semi complex views on why religion is bad in his eyes.
They were on youtube at some point....and YAY YOUTUBE!!!
http://www.youtube.com/user/dawkinschannel
go there, plenty of knowledge xD
oh oh oh, EDIT: Drugs are also a wonderful area to learn. "The war on Drugs, The Last White Hope" is an amazing film with some great information, "The Union" is also something that everyone on the planet should watch. Its about marijuana and it's current business routes.
Google is also your friend here, just search some stuff.
Last suggestion, just for the pure sake of information on the web. Two sites you should bookmark are http://www.ted.com/ and http://fora.tv/
Very good sources of brilliant people sharing ideas.
Go young knowledge seekers, find shit.

It's not as much about religion, but it does deal with relgion: This Film is Not Yet [R]ated http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0493459/
It talks about censorship via the MPAA and how messed up the balance is between what constitutes excessive violence for an R-rated movie (nothing) and what constitutes excessive sexuality for an R-rated movie (relatively little sexual content) and how this has religious roots, a pretty awesome movie IMO.
|
thnx for suggestions, ive got 13 movies queued now. not looking at youtube coz i need stuff for when i lose my connection.
any suggestions for business/polotix movies? like corruption in business? (ive got a movie abt enron queued)
|
"Who killed the electric car?" was pretty neat and deals with corruption/poor business practices.
