Hey TL, as we all share love and interests for Korea I might as well blog about my trip.
I will be in Korea from the 25th September till 10th October. It will be a field trip for the university. I am a geography major one year away from graduating and part of the geography curriculum is one big trip. We will be a group of 17 german students, lead by our dutch professor, who lived in Seoul for a few years and is married to a Korean women, so we are fortunate to have an inside-guide.
Of course this trip will be mostly work, everyone prepared a paper.

If you like to know a little bit more about some papers let me know and maybe I can add more information to it.
Maybe you already guessed it, mine is Cyber Korea. It will mostly be about the broadband infrastructure and the impacts on education and economy. Furthermore I ask why SK has such good broadband infrastructure and how the people use it and for what. Topics are digital divide(between generations and regions), e-commerce, e-learning, PC bang and gaming culture with a special focus on the Starcraft scene.
As I am the only “expert” so far in our group(no one has been to Korea before, me neither, but through SC you gather quite a lot information about it and develop a natural interest as a geographer + sc nerd) the professor asked me to prepare sth about my topic while we are in Korea. So I thought about visiting a PC Bang(nothing like this exists in Germany) and maybe to visit a Proleague Event or another game if the prof is down to it.
So now I have some questions:
I know Superdanielman is owning a PC bang and there was a post somewhere here on TL. Somebody happens to have the address of it or maybe even some contact information for Superdanielman?
As a former coach and owner of a PC Bang he could tell us quite a lot about Cyber Korea I think. It may be hard to get in touch with him as he is really busy with his enterprise I think, but it’s worth a shot.
Where is the e-sports stadium where the games are held? I saw the building on Old Boy but have no idea if it is in gangnam or some other district.
The TL calendar only shows games for the current months but I need a date to present it to my prof so he can implement it in our schedule. Where can I look what games are played between the 25th September and 10th October?
I really hope TL can help me out a little. I really want to present the gaming culture to my fellow students. They were really impressed by my presentation where I briefly talked about the scene and how big it is and how complex the game is. They all know nothing about SC or gaming in general but they are open minded.
When I have the schedule I will post it here and maybe I have the time to meet with some of you while I’m in Seoul or you could give me some kick-ass tips for eating/fun activities in Korea. Of course many pictures will follow after my trip.
