Was playing through the campaign on Brutal difficulty. I got through most of it pretty fine and dandy. I had to look up advice on TL for the train robbery mission and the finding the last artifact piece mission but I got through after reading advice there.
The last mission. Holy shit, that one was TOUGH. I tried it against Nydus Worms a few times but never got over 70%. I looked up more stuff and found the interesting strat with mind control towers. I used it and got up to 85% and used the artifact. Of course, with my pretty low CPU specs, the entire mission was lagging for around 10% of the mission at the end. Not being able to control that well, by 95% the Zergs was owning me. Then 99.0% Holy shit I just might make it. OMGOMGOMGOMG
It was on 100% for what felt like an eternity AND THE MISSION WOULDN'T END. I was like WTF!!!! And thankfully, I got through.
Yay.
Also, anyone know how to beat early reapers? Like when your opponent gets around 5 or so early on and speedlings can't do much because they just run off creep and continue harassing. Roaches aren't fast enough and yeah...

Gj, dude, I am almost there, only have to do the Zeratul missions and the only one I found kinda hard was the Train robbery ^^ I, too, looked up for an advice and it said "this mission is hard, spam diamond backs" and I did and it worked ^__^
About the Reapers, I dont know, LzGamer has been spamming reapers lately and that asian terran, I can't remember. Its like the new Bisu Build for TvZ :/ Look at the bright side, people can't change to terran at the last second when they see you are a zerg ^^

Not reading this in detail because I am not as far as you but... just started the campaign today... brutal difficulty and just completed the train robbery one... haven't looked up any advice but a few of the missions have been tricky!
edit: probably compounded by the fact that I didn't do the missions on an easier setting first to become familiar with them :p
|
Wow haha thats crazy, and couldn't an extra Queen or 2 handle reapers (I'm not zerg)?
|
Without getting into specifics into the plot, you have to defend this building until a timer reaches 100%. Building has 3000 life. It got down to 77 life when I screenshotted. It probably got a little bit lower but I didn't get to see. The timer was AT 100% and the mission wasn't declaring victory and I was like FUUUUUUUU!

I was kinda dissapointed, thought Brutal would be harder. I did though have to try the last mission a few times but when you figure it out, you can probably do it over and over without any issue.
If your opponent has 5 reapers, you should easily have enough defense for it. Keep running the ramp of Terran, if you only see Reaper production. (Tech lab but no marauders) Get Ling speed, which will easily own any Reapers. Roaches work too, just keep them on Creep. You don't neccesarily have to kill the Reapers, just keep pushing them back if they try to engage, and once you get speed on roaches, they can't do much. Then you can also transition to Mutalisks but that can be risky. Also, remember to stand on top of edges, so if they jump up they will jump into your units and die.

No I mean REALLY early game, he doesn't have marines and constant reaper harass. I know if I make too many lings, my economy is screwed but even with that many lings, he just pulls back and waits for more reapers. Eventaully, the reaper count just gets out of control and nothing short of lair tech can defend (which I can't even reach because of the reapers).
|
you need to build "enough" lings and you need to be standing on cliffs so he cant jump up down. At lair you go muta and usually it's really hard for a reaper terran to deal with muta. Unless his name is Jinro.
|
I was pretty much in exactly the same situation. The cut scene zoomed in on that stupid artifact with a complete ring of lings attacking it and kerri looming on the horizon. It made it feel more tense I guess.
Funny story: my friend was getting graphical artifacts during the hyperion sections. Google searching yielded no applicable results.

So it's actually harder with Nyduses? I did it pretty easily. Use a control group of 3 banshees and 2-3 battlecruisers to go around sniping off Nydus worms. It goes pretty smoothly.
|
The only reason I was able to win was because of the mind control towers. It's less that the Nyduses are harder and more the strategy can only be used against air.

haha. I did the air version and it was extremely difficult. Finally got it though. I should have taken a screenshot at the end like you did. I had just used the energy nova and everything was dead except for Kerrigan who was solo attacking the artifact that had about 140 health remaining just as it ticked 100.0%. Very intense battle and I felt quite relieved when I beat it... then a little disappointed by the ending.

grats neo, hard to cheese at the final level i see?

Oh, ALL IN is the last mission? I though it was the 26th and there were 29? Did I miss some? (I did the secret mission)
And btw, I pretty much coasted through all the missions on brutal but this last one seems impossible.
Yea, furthest I got on ground only was like 80% or so using mass bunker tank mercs and upgrades.

You have to go back to the mission archives and play the missions you skipped (Dr. Hanson vs Selendis, Nova vs Tosh, destroy flyers vs destroy Nydus).

damn low quality in sc2 has worse graphics than BW

Games are far, far too boring when you can just roll every mission on one attempt. I played through on Brutal and then went back to do some of the achievers on normal/hard and I'm glad I didn't do a lesser difficulty -- they're a joke. I'd much rather be challenged.

Looking forward to All In -_-; Glad I'm not the only one that had a bit of prob on train robbery hehe. It seemed so simple i felt bad and for making some really dumb moves.
In Utter darkness tho omg. Maybe it's that I never touched protoss in beta, so I was learning as doing brutal zeratul visions lol. That one took me a while but it felt so goood. Agreed that jumping to brutal is much more satisfying

I never did anything below Brutal. It would insult my pride as a D+/C- Brood War plaeyr.
|
I think Brutal is fine, I might replay it after on hard or Normal to enjoy the missions and find the easter eggs they put in them.
The train robbery was easy for me.
+ Show Spoiler +I failed it the first time because the last train timing got me mixed up with the kill squad patrol.
