I'm an undergraduate student at U of Michigan in computer engineering. To combine my interest Starcraft and artificial intelligence, I'm working on an AI agent for Broodwar. Although the project is still in its early stages, our agent has some pretty sweet micro (3000 APM :O ) in accordance to our general Starcraft know-how and Lanchester's Laws (to make our research look more legitimate to the university ). Ideally, I'd like to make a full game agent that can analyze and learn from its environment and play intelligently according to its surroundings. The AI agent isi "injected" into the game of BW via Chaoslauncher. Also, our code is built off of BWAPI (an open source Google code project). If you're a CS or CE major, I really recommend looking into working on the project, it's been a lot of fun! I will most likely be writing a paper to go with this AI agent once the project is done. When we finish, I'd be happy to play it against any bold Broodwar players !
The bots all did great with micro from that contest, or one build order done very well, but most were really quite bad at when to expand, how to defend certain harassment, and basically any deviations in game plan.
Teaching it to recognize a 5 pool seems hazardous enough to get around
We already finished a big portion of the micro for all three races and in Michigan EECS we get stuff DONE. So I'll be sure to let you play the finished project

Haha I admire the tenacity. Good luck!! I'm a D+ terran so if it can succeed to getting a 3 hatch muta off I'm sure I will die to it's muta micro.
