Is there any one playing SC2 from mainland china?
if so please explain in which server you play and how you set it up.

+ Show Spoiler +
I have an active US server account but cannot login in China.
When I try to log in I get a "association required" error message.

I have contacted Blizzard support team but its been 48 hours and no response.

here is the only link which discusses this error but there hasnt been any new information in a while.link

there will eventually be a Chinese server run by netease.
but i want to play on NA.

i just wanna know if anyone is playing this game from mainland china and how they did it! i have been in a state of depression since I bought their game and they have apparently forbidden me of playing it based on where I live.

thanks
EDIT: apparently one can play from within mainland china. for those who are capable of playing please post in the following format.

Whence you purchased the game:
Whence you downloaded your client:
Your windows version and language:

yes, we all know the game has not been officially released in china (the real reason is because the chinese game companies lobbied to prevent sc2 release since it will lower all of their revenues). but what i want to know about in this blog is whether or not anyone has been able to connect to the NA or EU or even SEA server from china?

i find it hard to believe that not a single person on mainland china is playing this game right now.

this is the country that took WoW away from its population

actually, after seeing the cinematics and the political themes in SC2, it makes alot of sense to ban the game in PRC.

i know that alot of ppl in US or EU would be like "WTF??" but really, the game content is pretty typical of bannable materials in the PRC.

err wtf i'm chinese and i find this comment offensive.

i may be whitewashed, but i really don't think china is that behind in cultural/political acceptance in this day and age.

thanks for your political commentary but honestly, comments from the west like this about china sound so uninformed. i dont care about your ignorant opinions which, ironically, are simple regurgitated propaganda overheard from some mass-media outlet.

i want to know about sc2 and who has been able to connect to the retail bnet from here.
if you do not have something to say about this then please save your APM.

well i m ethnic chinese too and i've came across materials banned in PRC and found SC2 to be in line with the PRC censorship policy.

some of the violating materials include... (Campaign spoilers, beware!)
+ Show Spoiler +
1. Kerrigan nude in the end. While not hardcore porn, would still be deemed inappropriate. Similar example include censored version of Lust: Caution.
2. Scene of Tosh dying. Considered excessive blood and violence.
3. Raynor's group leading a rebellion against a dictatorship that uses censorship. There are many films with this theme that were banned in China. Ones I can name includes Road to Republic and Qin Song.

But back to what OP was asking about, I've checked out some Chinese sites, it appears they recommend getting the enUS version or the TW version. With the US version, they recommend tools to "liberate" your copy of SC. with the TW version, there is currently a free trial going on until Aug 31, 2010. I believe you will need to connect to the TW server.

@assured vacancy
disregard the trolls and clowns.

UPDATE:
I met a guy in Beijing near me who is playing on the US server.
The problem might be that I am running Chinese windows while he has an American bought ENG windows. I am going to meet him later, copy his 7G sc2 folder and see if it works for me

oh well. here's the latest update.

after sending support team an email detailing my situation:

now my account is locked "due to suspicious activity".. hmm

im guessing that the sc2 client scanned my HD and discovered my chinese windows (which is legit but not registered) and denied me... now im in a bind... but still play BW on iccup.

UPDATE: got account unlocked but still no way to log in from my machine. my friend across town is running english windows and he could log into my account.

i will install english windows 7 now and see if it works!

Hmmm I'm not so sure about them banning it, I think you just need a Chinese-issued identification card called 身份证 in order to buy/download.

And as for taking WoW away from the population I think it's the same issue as above, you just need a 身份证 in order to keep playing.

Crackdown on the gaming addiction that is running rampant in the country, I'm afraid.
No dough, no go. And no mercy.

I dont play SC2 personally but.
One friend plays on TW server and it's fucking empty.
One colleague plays on SEA server and the latency is terrible.

Both are on windows 7.

SEA server lag is playable. I am using a 100 Mbs line and it is working fine. The trouble with the SEA server is the relatively low skill of the players ( not that I am very good ) and the fact that it is underpopulated. I am just a casual player though and SEA will eventually open up to NA version so I don't mind it for now.

(And yes English windows 7 is necessary in my experience)
I'm not Chinese but it would be okay if I were
