This lovely 17-40mm F/4 got totally raped yesterday.
Scenario: Was on tripod, mounted on a 5D. Tripod was terrible, one of legs gave way. Whole camera drops. Lens goes kaboom.
Filter got smashed, hardly any scratch on the actual lens, but might have the elements tilted. Also, I can feel/hear some glass shards INSIDE the lens.
The seam at the top got dented, so now it has become a mid-range wideangle lens, since it now blocks the zoom from reaching the min/max lol.
Introducing the new 20-30mm F/4 L.
GG.
Waiting for response from Canon Service Center on Tuesday. Thank god the 5D is fine :3
Reminder of how little I use my camera. I don't know if it's the SD card cause I never bothered getting a new one but half the pictures don't save and I can't transfer anything to my PC. I've been waiting for some kind of sale on SDHC cards at an online vendor to see if its the card or the camera. For several months now.
These things are awesome for wrapping around branches and shit in trees (I know this from experience) as well as lamp-posts and fences, but are not much good for anything else :/

Well, it wouldn't have happened if he had invested in a really good tripod.
Not sure if you took what I said the wrong way. I was being honest. Despite the fact that his lens broke, seeing such a good one makes me wish I could afford to get one myself.
