This.
Is a teamliquid confession.
I have a problem with WoW addiction. Over the course of my life I have played and quit 3 times, each play time lasting over a year. This might not sound too severe in the grand scheme of things, except that when I play wow, it's all I do. I don't sleep regularly, I avoid friends, I ignore both of my girlfriends, etc.
Well SC2 beta has been depressing me. I'm scared about what is to come. The game arrives in less than 2 months, and I don't know whats going to happen. TL seems to not notice, continuing on with FPL as if nothing will change, WELL SOMETHINGS GONNA CHANGE >_< What will happen to professional BW?? I just don't know.
This drove me to start playing wow again, fueled by a female coworker (shes like 40, married, and has 2 kids tho, so we've really got no future that doesn't include the lich king). I started playing 4 days ago, and it all happened again. No eaty, no sleepy, no threesomes.
And then I saw this: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=127948
And it hit me. What was I doing? It's 8am and I haven't slept for almost 4 days. The beta is ending soon and everyone's going to go back to Iccup, like it's supposed to be, and what am I going to be doing? Farming? GRINDING??? SUCK MY CACK WOW!!!
So I quit. Again. This is the shortest play time I've recorded thus far. I'm turning my life around though.
Cooked up the rest of my bacon and made a couple taquitos. I've already finished it and my heart feels like its pumping cold Aunt Jemina through my veins, but other than that I feel great.
Gamestop opens at 10am, I'm gonna go and buy Dragon Age: Origins for the PC, because I still need my RPG fix, and I rented Origins for the 360 and thoroughly enjoyed it, but I realized it would be MUCH better controlled on the PC.
But this weekend is going to be pure BW dedication. I'm nervous cuz I don't know a lot of the maps anymore (ASHAAAAAMED) but I'll learn them and start grinding games again.
And its all thanks to you Kawaii. You and Mizuki Nana.
Thank You.

DA is extremely fun on PC, you will not be disappointed. But it's kind of backward to quit WoW and play DA, seriously, it's really addicting

I doubt you've played wow cuz it's nowhere NEAR the same caliber. I have lots of horror stories from wow.
I want the game to be addicting in a good way, like I want DA to be on my mind while im at work so that when I come home I plop down and play it.
wow is different. its pure misery and mindless repetition.

I just assumed you were quitting WoW because it was taking up too much of your time, and keeping you away from your girlfriends ^^

sell_your_wow_account
i know blizzard condemns it but tbh its the best thing you can do i sold mine right before TBC and profited from playing wow (exluding all the time i wasted playing lol) if you have an addictive personality find something new healthy thats addictive (gym, skate, surf, triathlon etc) GL HF

Thank you Kawaiii ^-^
<3 mOnion~ I used to play WoW too, but BW just makes me so much happier good call quitting WoTLk

I've never touched WoW, and I never will, because I know I wouldn't be able to stop.
I've got like 5 different people trying to get me to play though :|

You know you could just control yourself and play wow on a less obsessive time schedule, unless you hate the game completly. I mean you must like it to so degree to be able to play it for so long, just cutting yourself off like that is bad for all addictions because eventually you will be overcome with desires to return. Not to doubt your self control, but if this is a recurring situation you should probably treat it differently instead of taking the same action and expecting different results.

Admittedly the game as a very strong pull, for me its the community and spending time with friends while having 'fun', in short the game has its moments that make it bad, but its moreso the person than the game. Blaming wow for any form of addiction is the same as the ignorant people who blame video games for violence, while there is some responsiblity with both parties in the end it is up to the person to decide.
im not blaming wow for my addiction to other things, i'm blaming wow for my addiction to wow.
which is beyond the point. the point of this blog is
BACONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

I used to be the hardcore raider, up til midnight every night raiding and then a few hours after that farming or doing stupid quests. I never got anything enjoyable out of it except those few bright moments building strategies for new bosses. I quit WoW once. kept reading the blogs and following the news etc... Then I went back and everything just felt stale, tired, and used up. So I quit again. this time for good.
Good luck mOnion. I know how it feels. Its not like other games that are addictive because other games are -fun- at the same time.

You used to play wow? With your awesome protoss skills? DA is good fun.

You haven't slept for almost 4 days?
God damn I'm glad I put up that blog. lol

is that lady good lookin at all

DA:O is a bad game to pick up if you are worried about spending too much time on RPGs. That game is like 60 hours long.
|
How do you not sleep for that long!? D:
Teach me your ways, master!

i still dont know how people can get so addicted to wow it has the worst pvp ever.. the best mmorpg pvp is from a really shitty grafics but good gameplay game called Argentum... its the only mmorpg me and my friends still play after 11 years.. they dont play bw

The market for selling WoW accounts it terrible at the moment, its not even worth the hassle unless you have something unique (vanity items) because gear is so easy to get.
DA:O Is really fun, I enjoyed it. + Show Spoiler +You can pirate it on PC, apparently there is a cracked DLC out now too.

Blizzard condemns it but they don't proactively enforce it because they make a lot of money from it. Almost every account sale results in at least one micro-transaction (character transfer, race change etc.) for them.
