Still don't understand what you are complaining about. There are people like me that like the change.
-The font is just right (I am using the 1280x800 resolution) -after I type in the search bar, I switch to my mouse and click the "google search button" because I am going to use my mouse after the search anyway. -the links to the other search are on the top left. -the bold are for the popular search which can sometimes be helpful. Other times just creates LOL like "I am afraid of..."
I don't understand why are you hating on google.

Can't you just hold shift and use the mouse scroll? I don't know how that bothers you though.

It seems a little slower though since I think it tries to load the page first, there's probably a shortcut that could be used too but I don't really use IE much.
edit: Did some more testing in IE, it's not actually any slower, looks like the search is done in the same way.

All of the changes can easily be included as options in an individual user's preferences, and be of no cost to google since it stores your settings as cookies. This would allow everyone to have the settings they like the best, so they don't have to cater simply to the average user (who can barely operate a computer).
I probably am in a very, very small percentage of users that uses the keyboard far more often than the mouse. I run litestep, so all of my applications are launched by hotkeys, as opposed to using the mouse and clicking on icons. I despise sites that don't default the cursor to the main search box (weather.com, I'm looking at you). It's just upsetting that all of the changes are at the cost of users who know what they're doing being able to do things efficiently. The new column on the left of the results page actually bothers me more than the font size, the bold, the button size, or the javascript. Why do you need those links there? They're already along the top. Why not put more of the same links on the right side and the bottom too?
I've also been looking for reasons to not use google anymore anyway, because of how evil they are becoming with privacy and politics, etc. I'll still use google for some searches, but I'll probably make about:blank, bing, or google.ca my home page for a while and see how they work out.

If you're such a super efficient user why are you going to www.google.com and not using the URL bar search available in most browsers or the Search bar available in a lot of browsers as well. Google is a business, of course they cater to the lowest common denominator, for most everyone else using standard browsing the page is better for them.

If you really want to have a specific homepage that doesn't change then create the html yourself.

The world doesn't revolve around you. Google made the change because it serves the masses better. If you don't like it, there's many other search engines out there in the web where you can find your niche.

I collect google's logos. I've been to their page pretty much every day for the last 12 years, and saved the logos since the beta. OCD did it. I actually stopped a couple weeks ago just to see if it bothered me, and it didn't. If you haven't figured it out by now, this is not a super serious huge important issue blog. I still have valid points re: the new side bar and not making these changes toggle-able (since they will not increase their revenue). They might not be a huge issue, but you know a multi-billion-dollar corporation is spending MASSIVE amounts of money and putting TONS of time into deciding upon these changes. From a financial standpoint, most of them don't seem to make sense.

Post of a screenshot of your crazy fonts? Everything is fine for me. Not even close to 24 point and not bolded.

Er... if you want to make it smaller can't you just do that by using ctrl+scroll? Yea old people COULD make it bigger themselves but the fact that they turned the monitor on is impressive, let's not get carried away.

I think LonelyMargarita are those old school 800x600 dude.

Ctrl+L focuses address bar too. Also, Ctrl+k (also apparently Ctrl+e) focuses the search bar. I can't remember a time I browsed without these two shortcuts. I haven't visited the google homepage in years.

I use that all the time for the time period and "discussion" (forum search) settings. Also just noticed the "Fewer shopping sites" option which sounds useful. And the bar's optional anyway.
