Alright, google. I've used your search engine for 12 years. In 1998, I switched from webcrawler to google beta because it was infinitely better. And for the better part of 12 years, you remained better than the competition. You made some optional changes, like having google be a huge portal page like yahoo and the like, but you could still default to just the search box and the logo.
Then, a couple months ago, you decided that your user base must be aging and losing their vision and motor skills. To combat this, you made everything BIGGER: the font (so I can see what I type, since I obviously stare at the keyboard while I type and have 20/200 vision), the buttons (so I can still click on "search" with my horrible case of Parkinsons' and inability to just press ENTER), and maybe even the logo (since my Alzheimer's made me forget which site I was visiting).
But that wasn't enough, so you decided to remove the links to your other searches (news, images, etc), and have them load through a script when you move your mouse. Two problems. 1) I block almost all javascript, ESPECIALLY anything from a domain with the phrase "google" in it. 2) I actually know how to use the tab key and the keyboard, and it's retarded for me to have to bump the mouse just so the links I wish to access can appear. Luckily using the greasemonkey add-on to firefox, I could get the size of the font and buttons back, but I still had to either not have access to google images, or allow javascript and go out of my way to bump the mouse.
Well you've topped yourself yet again. Since my aging eyes can no longer read 24pt font, you've wisely increased it to 24pt BOLD. You know what? I use bing cash back on just about everything I buy online, as it's most always included in the best deals from reputable vendors. I think I'll try their search engine for a while too, and see how that works out. Perhaps I'll come back when you give us the option of not having your home page retardedly huge just so people who can't even see well enough to drive can use it more easily (yes, that was their only reason for changing it, according to them - apparently they don't know Windows and Mac OS can already do this for ALL your programs). Otherwise, hopefully for your ad revenue's sake, someone will make a new script so I can use your search engine as I could 12 years ago: without wanting to stab you.

This may be the most pointless thing to argue about ever.

Really?
Get over it

I am over it. I'm using bing.com. Also, you didn't read my post.

Wow I can't believe this can make you rage lol.

you'll be back to google in no time
can't you just zoom out?

This bothers you? Font being too big? I don't know what to tell you man, just relax and learn to live with it. Its not like it makes the page cluttered or awkward to use.
As far as the other searches, I can almost see why that would be annoying, but seriously all you have to do is move your mouse, like, a pixel. It's not that hard to do. If these things make you rage like this I would hate to see what happens to you in situations that are less trivial.

Actually, moving my hands off the keyboard over to the mouse then back is pretty pointless just so they can have a "cool" fade in effect. Also, I didn't realize there were so many Romanians on TL.

Another day, another problem you didn't know existed.

Doesn't blocking the js just make the links appear normally?

Wait can you explain what the problem with google is more clearly?

But then the cursor doesn't default to the search box, and I have to tab like 9 times before I do a search.

Hi LonelyMargarita how are you?
|
I'm not used to using google.com since I get redirected to google.ca and the pages are a bit different. I'm checking out google.com right now and I don't see this bump to trigger javascript thing, also I see a top bar that is text based with the 'Images Videos Maps News ...' links so no mousing to the pretty icons is necessary. How can I see this bump mouse javascript effect you are talking about?
edit: Oh I see, you're talking about the javascript on the main page for the fade effect. I thought you were talking about on the results page.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Lol. Hit tab.
If you are so worried about switching back to mouse hand just hit tab after you enter your search field if you would like to get stuff to fade in. No mouse movement required.
If you are blocking javascript and it is causing an issue that is your problem not theirs. You blocking javascript makes you a non-standard user, so you get to deal with it, too bad.
