As many other suggested, I think it's interesting to see the ladder standings for different divisions. I'll start with Division 5 since I have access to it. Those who have access to other divisions, feel free to update it here too.
Since I know the W3 scene very well, I can tell you Nightend, HasuObs, Bly and Bensen are semi-pro W3 players. From the SC players I only know ParanOid in this division.

I beat Division #5 Leader :p and my teammate, he's great :-)! He played quiet a lot after I went to work, haha. You can check every division if you have a friend in it..^^

btw, any idea how can I move this to "Starcraft 2" threads?

Atm, there are like 20 players who make a living from playing W3 (there were more in the past, but leagues/tournaments went down alot lately). These are the pro's. Besides these players, there are like 100-150 more players who earn money from W3 but a lot less (100-500euro monthly). You you can see them in all kind of solo/team leagues (some of them even playing in the very top leagues), but very rarely you see them placing top in a tournament. Imo, these are the semi-pro's.

RunA is also an accomplished starcraft player.

No specific definition, and it varies a lot, most of these guys are students who play War3 as their main hobby.
A semi-pro like NightEnd earns a decent money for playing, not enough to live from it though, I've no idea how much he earns but it must be 100-500 euros (500 euros is probably far too much).
A guy like Bensen plays in the same leagues than NightEnd, exept that he is part of a less famous team, I'm pretty sure that he doesn't even have a salary, but he is still referenced as a "semi-pro". I I had to give a definition, it would be "People who play in the same leagues than the real pros except that they get destroid 98% of the times by them and almost never get invited in real tournaments".
|
the SC equivalent would be people who are in the chobo sponsored teams getting $50 / month =p
|
Who the hell is Bensen? now HasuObs is the one to watch out for in this group, hes an actual war3 semi-pro (has been in WC3L for 3+ years) and im sure once he learns the game abit, he'll be in the 1st ladder ez.
|
BeNSeN beat me in WC3 Zotac once I hope he does well he was very manner

Here are my leagues at the moment, haven't had too much time to play though T_T.
|
How many divisions are there in platinum and gold?
|
We have no idea of knowing, you can't look up the other divisions or leagues, you can only view the one you're in, it's quite silly really. I suppose there should be some web interface for it that's just not there yet, that's my best guess..
|
We need some sort of constantly updated thread or sticky for keeping track of this because as far as I know there's no way to view stats outside of your own league. I'm curious how other divisions look because at the moment there's not a single terran at the top in mine
|
I don't get this division business at all. Is division 1 higher ranked than division 2? Can players from different divisions be paired up against each other? Can the top 8 players from division 2 play against division 1 players?
