The players you play against have nothing to do with you're division - it's based on your elo points. Also division 1 is not higher than division 2 afaik.

Can you move up in the leagues? Im at #1 on bronze, so shouldnt i move to silver?

Honestly i didn't know about divisions until now, have I been moving up divisions without noticing?

the divisions are just for categorizing, not classification.

also a bit of a warning here to anyone new to the ladder:

if your ladder-rating means anything to you at all, dont start experimenting in laddergames, especially when you first start out. if you end up in a lower-lvl league, like i have, itll take you a long long time climbing up.

dont do what i did:

i started out silver after placement matches. didnt know you could do custom games yet, so wanted to try some different builds, races, just being creative and trying out all kinds of stupid things, even probe rushing (dont ask me why). obviously i started losing.

after a few matches -20 orso?- blizzard recalculates your level and puts you in -what they consider to be- your appropriate league. for me this meant a drop from silver to 96th copper.

i think my ratio was something like 6/18 at this point. a score of say 921. still hadnt realized you could do customs

, so i just kept on experimenting and generaly sucking caus you can imagine i just wanted to play and learn the game. at this point my score didnt mean ^%& to me anymore. getting me in even more trouble. ratio 14/26 something. score well below 900.

my own bad ofc. but i hardly expected it to be so hard climbing up! trying to prevent others from making the same mistake...

once i realized the custom games option (dont judge me for being slow!) things turned around score-wise and now, 10 days later, ratio is at 33/32, with 1381 points, placed 16th in copper.

to summarize:
dont fuck up you first games! after placements, you get re-evaluated somewhere round 20 matches. i dropped two leagues in one day - thats about 250 places down!

ive been slowly climbing back since then, but that takes a hell of a lot longer!
