Wireless mouses are generally not good for gaming (especially in wireless mode), for games like wow any decent quality mouse is good but for RTS its 1) feeling in hand 2) good sensor (not in dpi but accuracy adn response). I think Orochi its overpriced mouse (you can get good gaming mouse and decent wireless for similar price) also things like "Gold-plated USB connector" shows its a gimmick product for peapole with too big wallets.
the orochi can switch between wireless and wired mode for gaming purposes. I've compared the orochi with the salmosa, and the abyssus and they all have 1ms response time, and 1000hz ultrapolling (if this refers to the accuracy you talked about). So i guess the difference with this mouse is that it's smaller like a notebook mouse and it is a fingertip grip mouse (which is the grip i use).

I think I have the Asian or Chinese version or w/e that's slightly smaller than the original? How long have you had it for? My one complaint right now with Razer stuff is I've owned 2 mice and tried 3 and all of them had durability problems (Had problems after 6-12 months, whereas my MX300 lasted 10 years). Mind if I bump this again in a month or two? Will you still be using it then? Any noticeable transition in feel while playing BW? I usually think of mice as more important in some FPS, but I'm still curious about your overall impression if you went straight from a Salmosa to Abyssus.
I also must say i am impressed by Logitech's mouse durability. I've had my MX310 for about 8 years and it has gone through heavy use. I've treated it well, (never thrown it or anything) and still works good as new, something i definately appreciate 8 years in retrospect.
The MX310 wasn't the most comfortable mouse to start using, in retrospect 8 years ago, but now that i'm used to it obviously, it was definately a good choice.

Also what sensitivty you guys use measured in cm to move from left to right of the screen? IMHO LMO is really good for SC but it lacks the DPI for desktop usage, (photoshop, Osu! etc.) this is why i choose Salmosa which i like very much. Tried Kinzu, and i think as a gaming mouse it fails horribly, bad cord (very stiff) forced acceleration on almost every mode (except 800dpi mode), bad slides and the fact that it has veary small liftof distance (wich is generally good) but dosnt give any space to install good slides. Also for my small hands and Claw grip on salmosa (fingertip on LMO) it's impossible for me to claw kinzu comfortably :/ (too big, even thou it looks smaller) <reference on grips here>
As for Salmosa vs Abyssus, for me Abyssus is and good improvement: most importantly not having prediction is very good, also small things like better hardware DPI range 800,1600 vs 450,1800,3500, somewheat better slides, no friction/squackin problems with buttons.
About the sens: desktop (4:3), Osu! ~18mm , SC currently ~18mm (~800dpi) (~30mm erlier) - somehow due playing hard/impossible songs in osu i'm more accurate in SC at higher sens.On February 21 2010 04:13 Lock wrote: the orochi can switch between wireless and wired mode for gaming purposes. Main difference will be mass, usually you want mouses for gaming to have it as small as possible. For me even removing 20gram weight from stock LMO gives improvment in mouse control. On February 21 2010 08:37 pioneer8 wrote: I've had my MX310 for about 8 years and it has gone through heavy use. Although the orochi is very convincing for me atm, i still make sure to search around first. What do you guys think of the Logitech G9x laser mouse?

just add 2 side buttons and it would be the perfect mouse

I have tried that mouse at my friends place and i find its really nice, good grip and size. The one thing I diden't like about it is the scroll wheel, its really hard to push it and it also gives not enough resistance when rolling it for my taste. Also its kinda expensive.

1) ajustable weights? - in almost all cases for gaming less weight is better so it's useless. 2) Interchangeable grips - actually a good idea since it's shape of the mouse that matters most usually, but the grips are kinda simmilar and, and it's personal preferece so "meh" 3) Onboard memory - standard also, even LMO can have macros through autohotkey or w/e. 4) Custom-color LEDs - your friends will love it -_- 5) Two scroll modes - only feature that i like, it's possible to use it as a throttle/brakes in Flight Sims, useless for everything else -_- 6) Next-generation gaming laser - it's lol, i heard it's nothing special , also who the hell needs 5700 dpi, i think 2000dpi is sufficient even on big displays. (it's propably interpolated through mouse software so it's actually inaccuarate/jerky @ this DPI - ony a hunch thou) 7) Polytetrafluoroethylene feet - lol, it's ptfe (teflon) that almost every other mice use nothing special here -_- (actually due to large size of top slides i thing the design here is poor) 8) also this mouse *is* small , so if you have big hands it could give some problems...
Conclusion: with changable grips and weight it can be good for people who use mouse for gaming and some graphic job (where wheight is actually a beneficent) but really for this price you could have 2 mouses better for both things separately, also having 2 mouses hooked up and swiching them is easier than changing grip and weight every time...

Adding to what Nao said: that is one god damn ugly motherfucker.

i was using intelli 3.0 for years since it fitted my hand best and i was mainly playing Q3. While playing BW and WC3 i felt that my hand/mouse speed was way to slow to keep up but every other mouse i tried gave me RSI T_T. I tried salmosa once but it freaked me out due to squeeky buttons and sicnce i tried high sens and played from the wrist RSI came back. so i went to the store and returned salmosa.
I felt for SC2 i needed a quicker / smaller mouse and i went to the store again to get the steelseries xai, and at first i liked it but after playing for hours i felt that the buttons were really hard to press and it kinda felt like IE3.0 but only smaller and harded to grip. I returned it and got the Abyssus instead and this time all the flaws from salmosa were gone and it also fit my hands really nice. i lowered my sens a bit and now everything is perfect.
Im using it now for SC2 and i kinda think its the best mouse i ever owned

I have Razer Salmosa, and it works awesome for me. I don't think I wanna buy Razer Abyssus anymore because salmosa works perfect when I turn off the Windows XP's default mouse acceleration and remove the check mark off the "ehance pointer precision." In fact, I tried an experiment with the Paint for the option, and that option kind of acts like mouse prediction. Anyways, make sure to turn off default mouse acceleration and "enhance pointer precision" when you use your godly mouse! xD
Additional note: Oh by the way, I use 1600 DPI, and I really can't notice mouse prediction from salmosa. However, when I use 800 DPI, I do feel tiny mouse prediction. But it doesn't matter to me anyways.

omg nostalgic. I may go back to these when my copperhead dies. Hopefully, I can still find it.
edit: lol everyone is quoting the same thing...

I didn't actually feel the prediction on Salmosa until i tried Abyssus and the difference was small and not really noticable in SC altough my control in Osu! improved on this switch. Its propably a lot more important in FPS like CS.
When you turn off "enhance pointer precision" in windows there still remains some acceleration build in (at least in XP), and also some games can force acceleration on. So i would recommend installing registry fix like "refresh rate cheesemfix" or it's erlier version "CPL-mousefix" to fully turn off the acceleration. (not sure if they work in vista/W7 but i'm sure someone has made fixes for this OS). (there still can be problems if the mouse have it build in like Kinzu on most of it's modes).
ps: this whole acceleration/prediction issue depends heavily on game and play style, in SC for me it doesnt really matter, but for Osu! it's a matter of life and death

OK so I got this mouse today since I wasnt happy with my old one (Roccat Kone, also a gaming mouse) I gotta say I am really happy with how it feels, although for my taste the mouse is too small/my hand is too big, I can't properly lay my hand on the mouse without flexing my interphalageal articulations. But still it moves so smoothly, exactly where I want it to, really nice.
I have a question though, I dont really get the whole DPI thing and what exactly has it got to do with precision, with what DPI should I play starcraft and with what DPI should I play sc2? I guess I should play lower dpi with starcraft (450 or 1800?) since it only has 800x600 pixels if im not mistaken.

I definitely did not expect the responses above although I agree with them 100%
uhhh because it's common practice to use the same mouse and most progamers just go with what they've used for years?
and because SC has tiny resolution? but maybe....just maybe....people play more games than SC?
oh and uhhhhhh.......physical comfort? mouse could be the most amazing in the world technologically and still feel like a piece of shit...I personally hate the LMO just based on its feel. and uhhhhhhhhhhh just because every progamer uses the same mouse means that any other mouse can't be good for other players?
and uhhhhhhhhhh not every SC progamer uses the LMO

been using a Razer Diamondback 3G for a long while now, but the chord is fucked up and the mouse turns off because of it on occasion so I'm looking for a new mouse to buy... how does the Abyssus compare?
I'm very happy with how the 3G handles and feels, I would prefer something similar, but I wouldn't mind some higher DPI / 1000hz polling. honestly I wish they would just make a diamondback with that lol

Mice reached a peak of product usefulness about 2003 with the MX series by Logitech. Everything beyond that in power is basically unnoticable.
I'm still using my super accurate MX310 from 8 years ago...

salmosa is defently better mouse i like the buttons more i dont like the sharp edges from abyssus its little bit smaller i like only no squeeking on abyssus is better buy salmosa better and better sensor

I bought my Abyssus back in July and I have to say that is and awesome mouse, very light, accompanied with Goliathus Control is really good combo. Why? Here is how I see it.
Abyssus is light by default which means less effort to move the mouse itself, now adding Goliathus Control, friction is reduced even further due to textured ( or with little holes :D ) surface. ( less area for your hand and mouse to touch... )
Really great mouse. Great for fingertip grip users. Really easy to control the mouse with this setup, little to no effort.
P.S.
Is it just me or is 2.01v bugged, as in after each reboot, mouse scroll whell speed would reset to either 30 or 100. I just put on 2.00v and it works fine. ( googled it somewhere, that it wroks).

I am using a Razer Deathadder. Very pleased with it so far. I don't like my Razer Carachias headset though because everyone else in the room can hear everything that comes out of it even if it's just loud enough to hear with good quality yourself.
