U.S. legal concepts that are similar to foreign

I was thinking about doing negligence laws between the U.S. and France, but I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas about this topic

Patent law, at its core, is fairly uniform, although implementations are different. You could focus on one area or just cover intellectual property law in general. There's lots of good info online about IP law as well, whereas other legal areas are explained very inadequately by common sources like Wikipedia. US common law evolved from British common law, and the two still share many laws and concepts. Not very useful from a business perspective, except for perhaps contracts and negligence / products liability issues, but those are complicated areas. Trying to compare negligence laws between the US and France is bound to get bogged down in the differences between civil law and common law.
