I can't remember exactly why it was, but I think it had something to do with how it didn't effect how many hits it took goons to kill tanks when P was +3 attack, regardless of T's armor.
Am I just making this up, or what?

most of the damage a terran army takes isnt even from goons late game.. its mostly from siege tank splash, mines and psi storms. then you have to factor in zealot damage, (which gets reduced greatly by armor upgrades as zealots hit twice) and arbiter/carrier damage, and then you're left with the remaining damage being dealt by goons.. goons are simply a proportion of the damage taken so you shouldn't justify not getting armor simply because "oh goons will still 7 shot tanks anyway even if i get armor.. so the armor doesn't make a difference" which is obviously a farce because siege tanks almost NEVER only take damage from goons. they take damage from multiple sources and the armor might end up keeping a tank alive at 1 hp etc.. tldr: siege tanks take damage from multiple sources, so your friend's reasoning is flawed. | ||

I haven't heard anything that says otherwise. I play T myself, and I feel like I would have remembered reading something like that. | ||

I swear I can remember reading or hearing something about Terran's not getting the 3rd armor upgrade in TvP because it wasn't worth the gas, unless the P went carriers. whoever told you that is a giant newbie. always get the armor if you can. So I don't think there's anything wrong at all with lazz's post ![]() | ||

The only real benefit is vs carriers. wow way to completely ignore my post have you ever played late game TvP? a large proportion of the damage a terran army takes isnt from direct attacks from zealots/goons, such as splash damage from tanks, mines, psi storms, and arbiter/carriers. armor helps against splash. armor helps against mines. armor helps against carriers/arbiters. these other unaccounted factors will reduce a tanks HP to a level other than 150, which undermines and devalues the importance of those calculations. | ||

Flash has near-perfect macro. He doesn't need anything to keep his mins/gas spent. However, for most relevant levels of play, you're not going to have perfect macro. You're going to get supply blocked, or miss a production round in late game. The third armor upgrade may not provide that much benefit, but it gets mins/gas spent. | ||
