Perhaps you should try leading by example. Be notably better than those you seem to want to critique so regularly instead of negligibly different.

That's really not much better, a basic principle usually taught to kids in grade school.
EDIT: what systemic changes? I actually had a random idea that I thought might be fun (although not especially functional)

If someone posted badly, maybe just report them and move on?

It's really not, maybe slightly, but certainly not "a lot".
Those are pretty vague and an ignore feature is just a poor solution to improving behavior for what I think should be obvious reasons.

You saying they work don't mean they work. You ever consider that an ignore feature would just make you altogether disappear in the US politics thread? That even if you improved your behavior there would be no one reading it to care?

I only just found this thread and have enjoyed reading through it immensely. I'm not sure if it is thread feedback or individual feedback but it should continue indefinitely.

Sent covered it pretty well, so I'm not going to go into detail like I have previously with other posters. Plus, Dangermousecatdog deserves some credit for at least asking the question, even if it betrays a serious lack of self-awareness. As such, I'd rather the conversation stay constructive. However, there is one post of his that does deserve some attention:

User was temp banned for this post. This is actually quite accurate. Btw, I am too scared to reply to danglars and xdaunt alternate reality in case I get banned. Also, now we know why legalord been pushing his Clinton is unelectable rhetoric so hard at every opportunity. It turns out, the Russians really were colluding with the Trump campaign. And that changes everything.
This is the first time that I remember seeing Dangermousecatdog post, and it perfectly encapsulates not only his general attitude towards the thread US Politics Thread so far, but precisely the wrong attitude to take into that thread. The whole point of the thread is to have an open dialogue with people who have opposing view points. If you're not up to making a serious effort to understand the opposing argument, then just stay out. I could cite to any number of subsequent posts that Dangermousecatdog has made that either a) show a very poor attempt (if any at all) to understand an opposing view point or b) simply constitute snarky shitposts. All this does is bog down the thread and create a bad atmosphere. There are plenty of other posters who are guilty of this as well.

Concise and correct, but hardly a takedown. I suppose it will have to do.
My version was simply to note the complete lack of reading comprehension, which does seem to be precisely the issue covered by Sent and xDaunt. A slightly modified, but also rarely encountered, variation on that theme was "I'm an engineer so [insert absurdly reductionist explanation of technology]." But I think the major issue has been covered as necessary.
Why it is that dmcd seems to be among the only people singled out for actually being ostracized for this shitty behavior, I don't know. In truth it's very prominent and frankly about half of the regulars are little more than trolls that don't actually contribute to any discussion.

I don't think that dangermousecatdog is being singled out. He's just being mentioned with specificity here because he asked whether people have a problem with his posting. Keep in mind that the proper purpose of this thread is not to call out specific posters so much as it is to highlight specific problems with the thread that are systemic. For that reason, I generally don't complain about other posters even though there is no shortage of posters who deserve criticism to one degree or another.
