So TL, any recommendations on cheap hostels for a week that allow a 17 year old to live alone, or any form of housing what so ever?
Thanks!

There are very few places where you can get a hotel room at 17, this is not unique to Korea. Even in your home country of Canada it is probably difficult to get a hotel room at 17.

For most Koreans, you're carded a lot o_o not sure for foreigners though, and it might be because I mainly hang around university areas only(Shinchon, Hongdae, and Ewha). As to where you live for the week... Do you mind somewhere really, really, really tiny? There are places called goshiwons in Korea that are basically buildings full of lots of tiny rooms, usually containing no more than a bed and a desk. A lot of goshiwons do allow for underage students to stay as long as they have parental permission, so if you visit them before your parents leave, you'll probably be able to get a room for a week. You usually pay by the month though, so you'd probably have to negotiate to pay for only a week. I'm not completely sure about the details since I've never lived in one before, but the info's probably easy to find with a little research. -edit- Actually, on further thought, as long as your parents are there when you sign the contract, I think there are more places that might let you stay. Not completely sure though...
