His name would not be on the voting ballot in a few states had he not done this. That was probably the biggest issue that pushed him into doing it.

There's 5 pages that have mentioned this. He released the "short hand" certificate of live birth in 2008.

So this story is in the news, and not the rest of his failures. Or how terrible the economy is as well as our foreign policy.

As if it's going to change anything. You're either with the conspiracy theorists or part of the conspiracy. Some people are just retarded.

Congratulations. You got the birth certificate and humiliated the presidency in the face of the world.
All Americans lost when the president of the USA was forced to answer to slander started by morons. I hope the year long fantasy that Obama was a socialist jihadist baby planted here for world domination was fun and i hope it was worth trampelling over the dignity of your highest office.
If i was Barack Obama i wouldn't have adressed this bullshit and i certainly would not have dignified it by releasing this birth certificate.
The law that only American born people can be President is out-dated anyway.

I get the impression that most of the people who criticized the 'birthers' didn't really care whether or not he was born in the U.S..
I didn't find the discussion interesting, but what was galling to me is the snottiness that Obama and the Democrats showed to anyone questioning it. 'How dare you question his citizenship!' Just like how dare we question his ties to groups like the Black Panthers or that ridiculous racist preacher.
Clearly everyone who doesn't like Obama is just a bigoted racist.

You're saying that Obama released his birth certificate again after being continually attacked for 3 years about his nationality in an effort to distract the media from other news?
I need some Tin Foil asap, man.
EDIT

Or maybe cause he released it 3 years ago, and people never gave it up..

Interesting that his dad was 25 and his mom was 18 when he was born.

This law protects us against imperialism....
I'm glad he just did it, but I think its silly that trump is taking credit for getting him to post it. Nothing has changed.

I think he was more concerned about how something as ridiculous as questioning his citizenship gets more coverage by the media than his failures.

To some extent, probably. But sitting in Wright's Church for several years doesn't put much of a smiley face on his past.

What about Arnold Schwarzenegger?
I'm curious ^^ Doesn't he have to show a birth certificate too? If so, why don't people blow up it like they are doing with Obama.

Arnold is not the president of anything.
edit: and obviously he wasn't born in America.

Schwarzenegger wasn't born in the US and isn't eligible for Presidency. He's the governor of California.

also, a lot of republicans are really intelligent and sensible people who really understand how money works and stick to their moderated, sensible values. except, there are a lot of bad republicans lately crawling out before 2012.
I'm not voting republican until they start supporting education, lessen support for prison systems and stop being such senseless assholes with the power they're given (at least in my state).

i cant believe people actual believe this bs still.... i mean as a joke... yeah..... but for real?
He didn't realease it because he didn't think it was an issue to give more fuel to, thinking that it would die off eventually, and it almost did until Trump started spouting nonsense. in the end, realeasing it was the only option to quell the morons who believe that Obama somehow managed to trick the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in to letting him become president.... ffs.... presidential candidates get checked by every government agency, including CIA FBI and NSA..... if they weren't questioning his birth place, why should anyone else?
I mean the CIA et al aren't exactly known for allowing a crime to occur right under their noses, and pretending to be born in the US so u can be president is surely fraud of the highest order and they would have taken any serious evidence that he wasn't born in the US very seriously.... but of course.... it was all bullshit anyhow and they knew it.
Now people will claim the whitehouse manufacured evidence and paid the doctor (assuming he's still around) named to tow the line...... god damn some people in the US really are the stupidest people on earth, even a 5 year old can see there's no basis for this bs except for thinkly vieled Racism, if Obama were white... no one would question where he was born.
