For this epic throwdown that is about to unfold.
Cast by: Justin "Moosey" Meyer and a secret, special guest caster.
There will be a give away during the cast for some L4D posters, and possibly something extra.
Tell your friends, I want this to be the biggest event in L4D history! We have a Clash of the Titans, as it were; our reining CEVO champions against a bigger, better, STRONGER version of Quarantine! Check out the site for rosters, giveaways and more!
Brought to you by www.NewGamesNinja.com (yeah, the sponsor of the Reddit Open!) Rules below!
Interviews of myself, and of the players are now being uploaded to youtube! Check out my self interview here! You can find links to everything else in the description!
Hunting Rifle is BANNED!
All Witches must be activated.
After Ready-Up, both teams must wait for an additional announcement of READY by each team. This will give infected time to get spawns set up.
Crouch glitching for 'Rocket Spawns' is perfectly Legal. Remaining Crouch Glitched after spawning is not legal.
This will be played on the Rotoblin Hardcore Configuration.
Teams must agree on one server to be used, if this cannot be decided -- a neutral server will be provided.
Maps:
Death Toll 1-4
Loser of Death Toll will select a different Valve campaign to be played Maps 1-4.
If a tiebreaker is necessary, Suicide Blitz will be the final campaign.
NewgamesNinja staff have the right to change these rules as deemed necessary.
yeah comp. l4d is played on versus. there are also configs that reduce items and remove health packs, or replace health pack spawns with just pills.
at it's highest level, l4d is super favored to the survivor side. to counter this, there is usually a config on the server to remove teir2 weapons (auto shotgun, m16). so the only weapons survivors are able to use are pump shotgun, hunting rifle, uzi, and double pistols. since it's so easy still, starting safe room health packs and any health packs that spawn on the map are removed and replaced with pills. score is based on remaining health at the end of the map, or if all survivors get killed then it's distance based. so you can wipe a team on your first attack and they get like 4 points, or they make it all the way to the end with full HP and all 4 pills, then they can get up to 2400 points.
tanks are force spawned on every map witches are force spawned on maps 2-3-4, and a 75% chance on map1
This will be played on the Rotoblin Hardcore Configuration
this config, as i remember it, reduced throwables (molotovs and pipe bombs) to just 1 each.
i know i'm forgetting some things. if i can remember i'll add them in
Ah, I used to play competitive L4D 1 on clan >>X<< back in the day. It was really fun to play with a squad of people using good communication skills, I'll try to watch if I can.
How would somebody play L4D competitively. Aren't 99% of the zombies AI controlled? So its like playing sc2 competitively were the goal is completing the single player or comp stomping?

that other 1%, boomer, smoker, hunter, tank, are not AI controlled. those 4 are what the survivor side try to shut down asap.
versus mode is 4v4. each team takes a turn playing the infected and survivor each map

Survivors will melee twice and become fatigued, as opposed to the standard five melee.
L4D is not a perfect competitive game. Players have had to fight against Valve from basically day 1 to create something that we view as 'balanced'. It is considered extremely survivor sided, and yes; there is a lot of AI controlled aspects of it.
The game is extremely fun though. Players have been playing it solidly since release, and show no signs of stopping. The randomness that the AI has in the game adds so much depth, as some things that would work one time will never work the next. It's not nearly as cut-and-dry as other FPS games; as one missed shot has the potential for your entire team to die; but the teamwork that is involved is unparalleled.
Plus, at the simplest forms; You are killing zombies with friends. How can that not be fun!

It's to encourage long tank fights. If one team has an HR then throwing rocks as Tank is almost useless. The HR skeets rocks from any distance with one shot, and it reeaaally does a lot of chip damage.
How does the tank control work in comp games. I make it more specific and ask if the tank becomes ai controlled after 1 switch (I hated this when i played but I know some servers keep shuffling between infected)

i like that. makes the tank not as afraid of getting a little closer now. he still has to worry about the tov tho. a little metagame switch up

i figured this was a main reason. smokers gonna be a tad bit more useful now if everyone's rolling shottys

Actually all mollys, pipes, gas cans and propane tanks are disabled

Yeah for sure. That also makes quad caps more viable because you have to be closer to clear your team mates, which means you're more vulnerable to hunter stumbles.
