My first scary moment happened today as my German Shepard pet girl called Shadow was on the road and got hit by a car. I didn't see this, only my mom did and when Shadow got hit she was in shock and ran at the speed of light and the driver offered my mom to hop in to chase after her. After a bit they lost her and so my mom and step-dad began searching for her. 2 hours and still no signs of her and I was really worried. I was scared that maybe she would get hit by another car or she would eventually stop in the middle of nowhere and wouldn't be able to move anymore.
It was now night time and I was finally beginning to think I'd never see her again when all of a sudden my step-dad opens the door and shadow runs up the stairs! I was overjoyed at this and with a thorough inspection of her didn't see any major damage done!
Does any other pet owners in TL have a similar scary moment in their life?

Hold on... she got hit by a car and just ran away? Any injuries?
One time I was walking my Siberian Husky, (Jack)... We're walking along the side of a small street in my neighbourhood, when he sees a squirrel at the other side of the street. Naturally, he decides the correct move here is to run at the squirrel despite him being on a leash. Just as he darts across the road, a car is driving up behind us (which he doesn't see).
I yanked him back as hard as I could when i saw that he was about to bolt in front of this car. I pulled him so hard he went spinning in the air a bit lol and just grazed the side of the car. Had he ran at the squirrel a split second earlier, or I pulled him back a split second later, he would have been toast.

It's always scary when a dog just leaves the property for a while if it's not a super outdoors dog. I'm glad your dog came back! The dog we had when I was younger was found by some people like a mile away away, luckily he had a tag on him and the people drove him home.
My current dog left for a while after my dad smacked her for ripping our carpet up, it was snowing out so I was scared she wouldn't be able to find her way back. Luckily they have to come back cause they know who gives them food and shelter :D

Sometimes, you get lucky in that kind of situation. My mom's half-Chow/half-Akita got hit by a car several years ago, and suffered only a twisted ankle.

Certainly sounds like a miracle wow.
Few months ago my roomate let my indoor-only cat out. I was freaking, but luckily he was hiding behind a planter only a few feet from the apartment, scared as hell. He definitely prefers the food, water, and warmth.

My mom's cat escaped once... we found him 3 days later chilling in a sewer drain... he didn't appreciate the rescue either, bugger is still nasty as hell.

i remember one time i opened the door to a wardrobe in my parents house and there was this really dark red stain on the door. oh shit it looked so much like blood and when i spoke to them about it they agreed it was probably blood and a probably fatal amount. we looked and couldn't find the cat. as you might imagine this is where you kinda get worried; inexplicable blood + missing pet = worried. then the cat wanders in the house in the most catlike nonchalant way possible, even looking up at us a with a little "hey guys whats going on in here" look on his face, if its possible for cats to actually look like that. we then opened the cupboard above the wardrobe and found some of the red wine my dad had been fermenting had been leaking. man did we feel ridiculous but we were quite scared for a bit.

I remember the first night my parents got their new german shepard puppy they entrusted me to baby sit her, to make a bond. She had "fallen asleep" on my bed, so I decided to go play a little bit of battlefield 2. 5 minutes later, I hear a thump, look over to where she was lying, and she was gone! I frantically ran over to investigate, and she was lying on her back, paws in the air, not panting/breathing at all (mind you, earlier in the night she was breathing super loudly because it was summer and she has a thick coat). I thought that she had fallen off and broken her neck, so I started to break down. Then she rolled over and started barking at me as if to say "fooled you." I still haven't forgiven her! Stupid smart/sadistic german shepards <3

My sister took our dog to the local dam, theres a 2 lane road pretty far away. The dog goes kinda "happy nuts" from time to time and runs around like a loon to burn off energy. Shes extremely fast. Shes a doberman cross something big mutt and very loveable. Anyway she ran onto the road and got winged by a car. Also no ill effects from this except masses of tears from my sister.
Second one was where I took the dog onto the fields at the edge of town so she can run around some. Theres a really evil bull mastiff type thing that used to go apeshit from one of the houses (which were pretty far away) One day the bull mastiff burrowed under the fence and came at my dog. My dog is standing there tongue out, ears up, dumb grin with tail wagging and this thing is approaching at breakneck speed with murder on its mind. Last second my dog realises the other dog doesn't want to be best pals, theres a five second tussle and the other dog starts running for its life and burrows back under the fence with my dog trying to tear it a new arse. I was so proud! (I don't condone animal violence etc but it was gratifying to see that while my dog doesn't start shit, she can certainly deal with it if it comes her way)
But yeah, seeing pets in bad situations is pretty scary.

One of my cats that I used to have scared me alot. Saw him almost get run over by car, saw him fall like 15 feet from a wall he was climbing. Also there was a time where my mom found him in the garage bleeding on the floor after a dog got him.
Had another cat that stayed indoors most of the time, scared the shit out of me when she was diagnosed with cancer

I was actually talking to a friend on the phone. Friend off hand remarks that their cat hasn't been to their house for a few days. I walk outside, and SEE THE CAT WALKING DOWN THE STREET.
I rang a bell and it ran over to me. THen just kept it busy until friend came. (Noob cat was hungry ><)

The only "scary moment" I've ever had was with my pet hamster when I was younger. It managed to get out of the open hatch in the roof which I accidentally left open (must have pulled some mad ninja roof-climbing ninjutsus) and ended up hiding underneath our hot water tank in the gravel. Our cats ended up finding him and we had to put food in a dish on the floor and hopefully catch him out, in which we would slide a sheet of plywood to block the hole to the gravel.
Needless to say after a few days (which he ate, drank, etc during) we managed to catch him, haha.
Oh, now that I think of it we had one with one of our cats. Our cats are 100% indoor cats, but sometimes we would put them in a harness and take them out on our deck/run around our backyard, etc. Well one day my Dad was out with one of them in the backyard without the harness, and a squirrel ran by on top of the 6'~ fence, in which my cat instantly jumped onto and started hoofing 'er towards the squirrel. Luckily my Dad was able to quickly run over and grab him before he got out of reach, otherwise who knows what would have happened.
Good to hear your dog was o.k. though!

One time my dog disappeared. We searched everywhere for him, and spent all day combing the streets of our city to find him. We told all our friends but eventually we had to one of our prior engagements very sad and discouraged. I was scared to death and went to an important business meeting with tears in my eyes.
When we got home we heard weird sounds coming from our roof. Sure enough, we went upstairs to find that my mom had locked him on the balcony! x.x

I remember when my boyfriend's cat was just lying on the couch covered in mud. He was the sort of cat who would have come to cuddle with me or would have at least cleaned himself. I went to say hi and noticed his face was all swollen and his eye wasn't opening. He was oozing that stuff that cats ooze. I told my boyfriend and he told his parents who promptly took him to the vet. They think he was hit by a car or tossed around by some animal. We'll never know.
Least he's still my bud!

My mom had brought my cat up to the vets to get his shots. After she brought him home, he went outside. All of a sudden I start hearing him meow and howl. I get up and look outside and there he is, walking funny with his ears pulled back and my other cats looking at him weirdly. We bring him inside and lay him down. He's meowing really loud and panting and beating his tail furiously. He's just laying there. And then he stops meowing, stops moving his tail, and he literally looks like he's about to die. I was so scared that the allergic reaction he was having to his shots was going to kill him, considering it'd never happened before. We gave him some benadryl and it seemed to work, because he eventually got better and back to normal. It was really scary.
There's another time when we thought our dog ran away. We have a Husky whom, when she escapes the backyard, will run. Just fucking run. It was always a hassle to get her back in the house (she's probably too old to run very far now). But one time she got away, and we didn't notice until we couldn't find her in the house, backyard, wherever. We searched for hours, until it got dark and couldn't see anymore. We though we had lost her for good. Turns out, somehow she had made it onto the freeway (and got hit by a car sometime during her "adventure". Her paw was injured). But some nice guy must have seen her and managed to get her in his car. He brought her to the vet and luckily she's chipped so we got her back the next day. But we thought that we would never see her again. Pretty scary.

My hamster repeatedly escape from its cage, and given the habits of my hamster, it was active only at night, but rarely active during the day. Thus, I eventually had to wake up at midnight to look for it. The scary part about it was that I was under the impression that if I couldn't find it after several nights, the hamster would not be able to survive without a steady supply of food, so it felt like I was struggling against time to find the hamster night after night, each and every time the hamster got out of its cage.

A long time ago I had this pet mouse. Move loveable animal anyone could ever own, and she had golden colored fur. I had taken her on a vacation to the beach just to make her life a little less boring. We had also brought our golden retriever along so she could play in the water.
When we got to the hotel we were unloading our bags from the car and I had let my dog out to run around for a bit. My mouse was in the car on the backseat ( I usually just hold her and she sleeps in my lap) and I forgot to put her back in her cage and lock her up. When I came back I saw my dog in the back of the car and ran over to see what she was doing and she was sitting there snapping her jaws on something golden. Naturally I screamed and was breaking down to a puddle of tears. About 30 seconds later my mom saw my mouse on the backseat all fine and dandy, and guess what my dog was eating? A McDonalds hamburger I didn't finish eating... My mom coulnd't stop laughing at me...
