Yeah the person or organization has to have a twitter account and be actively using it in a meaningful way, but that is not all the reward is for. The Streamy Awards, granted is aimed more at the above listed things, but in my view the Shorty Awards acknowledge all that as well to a degree. | ||

Vote Auditing and Rankings When computing rank, votes are automatically weighted based on an algorithm. Votes from real, active Twitter users are assigned higher values. Votes from irregular accounts are assigned low values. The Shorty Awards team also performs human reviews of the votes and a final vote audit occurs after each voting round ends. "Irregular" accounts include ones that use bots, scripts, issue repetitive automatic votes, appear to have been created specifically for Shorty Awards voting, or exhibit other behavior that violates the spirit of the awards. We encourage users to report any suspicious activity to info@shortyawards.com. I assume that's why we've seen day9 ahead a few times even though he doesn't quite have as many votes. | ||
